Hi Everyone my blog is finally up and running. I am hoping everyone who stops at the site will take the time to read the articles and to make suggestions on what they would like to hear about. I also encourage you to start posting questions, I have a few already, from people who knew the blog was about to go live. I will have the first three questions answered on June first so make sure you get yours in on time.

I recently found out my blog has had one of those famous internet glitches, its out wandering around some place in cyberspace, so it’s no longer available to be seen by the general population. My only wish is that whoever gets to read it enjoys it and finds it informative. So as we get ready to start a New Year, my blog and website gets ready for a new start, I guess I can consider that appropriate and just.
I will once again start answering questions, but instead of once a month I will answer them as they come in, so I hope everyone takes advantage of this offer. I will answer both personal and general questions on astrology. The blog is not for a personal reading or prediction, but for general questions about your chart or the chart of someone you know, or just questions on astrology in general.
So let’s start with a big Happy Holiday to everyone, and that covers any way you choose to celebrate or not celebrate the day. As an astrologer I always like to remind everyone the story of Christmas starts with astrologers, it is they who see the star in the East. Now the star in the East may not have been the event we now see depicted it very well may have been an astrological phenomena that we now think of as the star in the East. The three magi were astrologers from Babylon or what we now know as Iraq. These men had watched the sky’s and knew something special was about to happen, they wanted to herald the arrival of the age of Pisces. But what we now celebrate as Christmas was once the celebration of the winter solstice, in those days the solstice occurred around December 25. It was a time of the celebration of the return of the Sun, or the birth of the Sun, the Christians, in a effort to gain support, took the holiday and made it a celebration of the birth of the “son”, or the son of God. Many of our modern traditions stem from the pagan celebrations at the solstice. For that matter the celebrations of old were quite rowdy and full of excess, so much so that in the middle ages Christmas was band in the Western world.
Christmas today is a time to celebrate family, friends and the joyousness of life.

Hi - First let me say thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with all of us.

Question: I have two new four legged companions - (1) Lolita born - 5/6/08 in Brooklyn or Manhattan - (2) Bella born 3/21/08 - somewhere on Long Island (as I adopted her from Kent) My birthdate 12/23/1945 in NYC. Now that we are a family - how do our differnt signs affect us. Are the Astrological signs of our pets important to consider before adoption??

Let me first say thank you for your kind words, and also thank you for bring up a subject that is near and dear to my heart. I spent many years in the animal care field, and the appropriate match of animal companion and human is very important if the relationship is to work and be as good as it can be. I have written a book on the subject and hope to have it out later next year. I am hoping to get excerpts of it on my site in the spring.
Now to you two new family members and your relationship with them. First of all lucky you, they were born in 2008, a year the planet Jupiter was transiting the sign of Capricorn. Jupiter spends about one year in each sign, so every 12 years it will be in Capricorn, since you are a Capricorn this is a wonderful combination for compatibility. We tend to like and get along with those who have Jupiter close to planets in our charts. Jupiter as a planet just gives a feeling of good will and enjoyment, sometimes to much enjoyment, but with kittens I think maybe that is not possible. So this placement on its own make me think no matter what these kids do, you will look on it with the eyes of a proud parent.
Astrology is energy and looking at a chart allows the astrologer to see the type of energy an individual generates. When it comes to pets it’s important for us to have a compatible energy level for all of us to be happy. We need to give our pets what they need. Kittens need a good sense of humor no matter what the sign is; they are little bundles of energy and mischief. In your case you have a Taurus (Lolita) and an Aries (Bella), your little Taurus will be your sweet little girl, she is the one you will feel the need to hover over and care for. She is the little queen of the family, she will not work hard, and she expects to be catered to. Your little Aires is into everything, she has a short attention span, and tends to be quick witted and willing to learn. She is active, her sister Lolita may often look at her in distain as no self respecting Taurus could act as outgoing and wild as an Aries. But they will be able to have a very balanced and loving relationship with Lolita taking the lead by being motherly and Bella allowing her to only when she is pooped after a hard day of playing.
As a Capricorn you need a pet that can take care of itself while you are out in the world, so it’s great you got two kittens, this way they can keep each other company when you are not home. Both kittens have qualities you admire, such as Lolita have a strong idea of who she is what she will accept in life, and Bella just going out there and getting what she wants. You also have the patience to keep up with them. Good luck and enjoy both of them

It’s time to welcome the New Year. 2008 was a hard year in many ways, for many people personally it took a toll, it forced us to look at our lives and how we conduct our business, it showed our failings, and took the rose colored glasses off that many of us wore. So for many 2009 is the hope for a new start a new beginning, and like every other New Year that has preceded it, the promise of a better futures lies within.
We can be optimistic that the New Year will give us what we need; it’s our job to make sure we live in a way that promotes our deepest desires. One of the harder things we humans have to deal with is the energy of the masses. When we have a year like 2008, we get caught up in the negativity, the thinking patterns that can create lack. We need to make sure all of us stay optimistic and have faith that everything is as it should be, and this universe will provide us will all our needs. The more people think in a poverty conscious, or reactive way the more their negative expectations will be met. If we keep ourselves above that and take the stand that we already have all we need, we are cared for, the more likely we are to not get caught up in the “drama” as it unfold.
2009 holds many promises, we have had some major planetary shifts that will affect us on a worldwide level. Pluto’s energy into Capricorn has sent out a strong signal as to its mission; Pluto is going to uncover all areas of big business and government that no longer serve us, or the planet. Pluto is not very subtle so his tactics may leave some in distress, but his gift to us at the end will be a more efficient and honest way of running our world. As a planet Pluto will break down structures that no longer serve a use, but he always gives us something that works better in exchange.
In the United States we are going to have a new president as of January 20, 2009. He will take the oath of office around noon, the Moon that day is 29 Scorpio, and changes to 0 Sagittarius at 12:30, so the time of the oath is important in understanding how the chart will work. If the oath is taken before 12:30 the Moon, or the people, are really at the end of their rope, they desperately need and want change. The Sun in this chart, always the indicator of the president, is conjunct Jupiter, this is a hopeful combination that indicates great success and popularity for our president. The chart shows hard work at making friends with other nations, hard work that pays off, so we can once again have respect on the world’s playing field. This chart also indicates work at improving the economy, this is not something that can or will happen overnight, but since Mercury is strongly involved in this charts financial indicators, we will see major work on the infrastructure of this country. We will also see new ways to both import and export goods. What may be at issue is how large our government becomes. This administration will improve government while enlarging it, but in a way we have not seen in the past, since this may not be understood by those who cling to the old way of doing this it could end up delayed, but it will happen. Mars in the ninth house of foreign affairs indicates possible crisis, but with a nice trine from Saturn they can be worked out through diplomacy. The new administration may have a difficult time getting started, but will enjoy popularity.

Hi Dear Lonni,
Well I this is really something that i consider to ask you that recently I am going through an intense square of transiting Pluto (4th House) to my natal Saturn (1st House). I am facing circumstances beyond my control. Can you please describe about it? I am also about to have my first Saturn return and recently Saturn is squaring my natal Neptune.

Best Regards,

Hi Rizwan its so good to hear from you again. I am sorry to hear your feeling pressure from your current transits. I have looked at your chart and you have several strong transits going on at this point in time, I think more important than the Pluto to your Saturn is the fact the transiting Saturn and Uranus are affecting your progressed Moon at 22 Virgo. This transit is making you feel like you have no control over your life, you do, but you not feeling it. We always have control over how we react and handle adversity often when things are difficult we find the best in ourselves.
For you its a matter of the changes you are facing, you are at a point in time when the universe is asking you to look inward, and find out what your real goals in life are, as its time to start doing what you need to do to create your own reality. I do think you will find a need to move on a physical level, when I look at your chart I feel you have many difficulties where you are now, so a move may help alleviate some of this. It also looks like you may have concerns about your family, and you are feeling the pressure to help them or assist them in some way. The good side to these transit is the fact things look like you could be in a situation where you can increase your income dramatically, the pressure you are now feeling are pushing you in a different direction so you can take the needed steps to improve you life on the materiel level.
The other thing that is going on is you are holding many tings inside you, this creates a tension within. My feeling is you have some childhood issues and anger issues that are being forced to the surface right now. The good thing about this is it allows you to heal, emotionally and spiritually. Have you ever thought of writing about your life experiences, I ask this because you have a natural talent, and your chart indicates is a good way for you to heal, and get past feeling so much pressure.
Mars is in Capricorn right now so its making the Pluto transit feel worse, this influence will let up around the beginning of next week, so you may find you have a short term release of tension.
One other things these transits and progressions are doing to you is creating a lack of confidence in yourself or your ability to change anything, the reality is you have the ability, but your just not in a good place at the moment so your not seeing all your options. I think if look around and look for new options you will find life starts to feel better.
That Saturn return is an exciting time, its considered the time when your a fully actualized grown up on an astrological level, so its opening the doors of taking control of your life.

Dear Lonni,
Many thanks once again for your best words. I know a bit about the transits but don’t know about the progressions of chart. but its very intersting too. Yes i feel many restrictions in myself to make a move, and now a days I often think this is not the right time to make a new move, and often ask myself then when will be the right time of make a move. Many thanks for your kind advices.

The difference between a transit and progression is this. A transit is where the planets in the sky right, and what they do to your natal chart. We look a the aspects the planets are making, which is the angle or degrees of the transiting planets to your personal horoscope. A progression is when you natal chart is moved, we have many different ways of progressing a chart but the most common and the one I use is called secondary progressions. In this method you take the planets of the days after your birth to determine where you are having internal changes, so the planets the day after you were born represent the second year of your life, planets 30 days after you were born represent your 31st year and so on. The combination of transits and progressions allows an astrologer to get a full view of where you are astrologically.

Dear Lonni,
Here is something that is making my worried about. My first Saturn return is expectedly being exact in mid November 2009 and at the same time Pluto in Capricorn will also exactly square again my natal Saturn and transiting Saturn. Saturn Uranus opposition will also be there in 2010 at the same degrees as Saturn will take its Rx. Is it going to be more volatile? Needs to be worried more than a simple Saturn return?
You always give a informational explanations and its appreciable.

Many years ago, 1962 to be exact, I remember standing outside with a good friend of mine watching the sky, we were worried because of the reports that the planetary lineup during the New Moon of that Month would cause changes on the planet and the possible end of times. So here we are 46 years later and we are waiting for end times again, but this time 50 years later, in 2012.
I still watch the sky, but now I do not worry and wait for some type of a catastrophe to strike, I have watched the planetary cycles in my life time and studied them in times prior to ours, and have concluded that we are not going to predict end times based on planetary cycles, modern or ancient. End times may or may not come and if we live our lives worried about them we lose a lot of the joy and opportunities this life has to offer. We now have thousands of internet sites devoted to predicting doom and gloom and maybe a handful of sites that feel the times we have approaching are a spiritual awakening. My belief is we are at a cross road, but one of many that humankind will experience.
A history of the 2012 hysteria starts with the Mayan Calendar; the Mayans were an advanced civilization in Central America approximately 311 BCE. The Mayan’s were among other things master astronomers, builders, inventors of the written word in the Americas, and extraordinary farmers. This civilization suddenly disappeared around the 8th or 9th century, it’s debatable what really happened and one of the great mysteries of the world, this thriving, advanced civilization suddenly gone. But they left behind a wealth of information about the society they lived in. among this information was the calendar system the Mayans used, a very accurate calendar based on the movements of the planets and stars. They were so advanced in astronomy that they were the only pre telescopic civilization that was aware of the Orion Nebula. Their society was also very aware of the equinoxes of the Sun, and followed the planet Venus very closely. From these astronomical calculations they developed a sophisticated calendar system. In this system they had what we refer to as the long count and the short count, basically the short count was used to track short periods of time and the long calendar was used to track longer periods into the future. The long count was a way of tracking events from a mythological starting point. The Mayans also had calendars’ based on the movement of the planet Venus, as well as calendars’ based on the changing positions of the Moon. The system is both very complex and accurate, for that matter some of the calendars’ are still used in Central America as a way of marking time, and the formation of GMT, or Greenwich Mean Time as a starting point for astronomical purposes was based on the Mayan Long Count. The Mayans had a strong concept of time both in the past and future, and they plotted and calculated times both in the past and future in the writings they left behind. The calendar system also works with the creation myth of this culture, in the myth; we are the fifth cycle of creation. All of this gains importance in the minds of those who know the long count suddenly ends on 12, 21, 2012. To many the ending of this calendar is the ending of our civilization as we know it.
When you add to this the fact that astrologers know we are headed for a major planetary line up, well I guess we can say let the hysteria begin. I personally do not think all of this is the end of the world; I tend to think it’s a time of opportunity. Our world and mankind has gone through many changes in the billions of years since the big bang, changes that are needed if we are not to stagnate and always stay the same. The nature of the universe is change, as soon as movement stops life stops, so we need change. We need change to allow us to grow into what we need to become.
The planetary line up we are in the beginning stages of is often referred to as the cardinal climax. It will involve the planets Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Each planet in the heavens has a cycle or path it follows, as it moves through the sky it has angular relationships with other plants called aspects. If you look back over human history you will see these planets have often been in what is called stressful angles to each other during major changes on earth. But these things have happened before and will happen again, it may take hundreds of thousands of years to complete a cycle, we as humans tend to look at thing through a very narrow prism, the universe is vast and timeless so a million years is a blink of the eye. This line up of planets in cardinal signs started in November of 2008 when Pluto entered Capricorn. Pluto will be in the sign of Capricorn until 2023, so it’s here with us for a while, the last time Pluto was in Capricorn we had events like the French Revolution, the Revolutionary War and a strong urge for freedom throughout the world. It was a time when the common person felt oppressed and strangled by governments, sound familiar? Then we have the opposition of Saturn and Uranus, this is a 45 year cycle that last occurred in the 60’s, it was a time of people wanting to have freedom from oppression, or perceived oppressions. It heralded in the movement for civil rights, woman’s right and sexual freedom; this opposition was exact on Election Day of last year and will continue into next year. In the spring of 2011 these planets will again oppose each other, for the last time in this cycle, and touch off a difficult aspect to the Pluto in Capricorn. These three planets in harsh aspect to each other are always involved in times of major changes, major disruptions for mankind as well as times of major changes of consciousness. Each time we have had similar types of aspects we improved our lives, after much struggle, we had embraced those who are not like us, after much bigotry, we have learned we can be free and live a good life, but after the pain of not having what we want. So I feel we will be pushed again the wall by the heavily bodies, to force us to change what is not working. It has already started and the most powerful of this energy will be in 2011, by 2012 we will be focused on how to make things work the way we want them to work. That being said does not mean we may not have some major disasters; we may, as we may need them as the push to get us to go where we need to go. In this I also think we are going to receive major bursts of energy from spiritual sources we can use. This energy can sometimes come out as difficulties between belief systems, but again this is needed so we can see and identify the difference and hopefully allow us to learn from each other. Each time we have faced major global problems we come out stronger and I believe we will again this time.

Venus the Goddess of love and beauty, an enigma in many ways. Astrologically Venus, represents things of beauty, people who have a strong Venus in there horoscope are usually very attractive. But the planet Venus represents so much more from an astrological viewpoint. When an astrologer looks at the planet Venus it tells a story. Venus talks to an astrologer about how a person approaches what they want in life, how driven they are to get what they want, how clear they are on what they want in life. Venus also shows an astrologer how deserving a person feels, especially when it comes to love. The planet Venus can bestow great beauty, great love and great gifts, but she also shows when a person does not feel capable of attracting love, or they feel unsure about their ability to find love, she is also fickle and can lead us to love but not give us the self confidence to hold onto it. So Venus is a complicated planet that plays a big role in one of the most important areas of our lives.
The mythical Venus was a seductress that usually got her way in all things, she was charming and few knew how to say no to her, she was the only create that could tame the war god Mars. We still use the symbol for Venus r as a way to indicate female. Men have Venus in their horoscope just as women do but men tend to live their Venus out through the women in their lives, just as women tend to work the Mars in their chart out through the men in their lives. So Venus is an indicator in a man’s chart of the type of women he is attracted to the type of woman who is his “type”.
Venus also has an affinity with money and finances, so the placement of Venus, with other indicators in a horoscope shows our relationship with money and what it means to us, as well as how easily it comes to us.
So astrologically we know that when Venus is well placed in a horoscope she can bestow wonderful gifts, and when she is not well placed she hold back her gifts or makes us work for what we get. This principal works when Venus is transiting, or traveling through the sky as she changes signs we often collectively feel the shift. When Venus is happy she bestows gifts to earth, when she is not happy she withholds her gifts.
Venus like all the planets in the solar system has a cycle it follows we can predict when she will be in a certain sign, as well as when she goes into her retrograde cycle. All planets have a retrograde cycle, or an apparent backwards motion, Venus has a cycle of once every 18 months. For that matter Venus retrograde in a birth chart is a rarity, only about 6.5% of the population is born during a Venus retrograde. Since Venus is in the process of going retrograde right now I thought it would be an appropriate time to send out some information on how this will affect all of us.

Venus is in the sign of Aries right now, so she wants excitement in love, may want to push to committee but because of the retrograde placement cannot move forward, it’s a time when we are forced to look at our needs in both love and relationships, difficulties in relationships are a mirror for things we need to look at in ourselves so we can cultivate our needs in love. It’s not uncommon during this time period to have an old love come back into the life, it’s a time to go over the past and fix things that need fixing, or letting go of what needs to be let go of. Since the sign Aries tends to lend a sense of urgency right now you should be careful not to committee to quickly or before you know a person well. It’s also a time that committed relationships face challenges; all of a sudden someone you thought would never leave needs to have their freedom. This retrograde period is all about finding balance in relationships, not committing to someone or something that is not good for you, or may not be as committed as you are to things working out. If you can avoid any formalities such as marriage or engagements it would be best to wait, Venus retrograde can hold back love. Often when a planet is in a retrograde position events that seem fated happen to us, so the events surrounding love often seems as if they “have” to happen to us.
Since Venus also represents financial issues her retrograde cycle this time around may be uncomfortable for all of us. During this time period, March 6, 2009-April 17, 2009, we may not see positive forward motion on the economic front. There is a feeling of not having enough, or not being able to have what you want, we feel deprived. But the opposite side of this is, it’s a great time to go over your finances and see where you can improve them, where you can change bad habits into good ones.
Other areas this cycle may affect are your creative output, this is a wonderful time to look for inspiration, especially in nature, and you will have a clear view of beauty and music. It’s also not the best time to change your style or make a drastic change to your hair as chances are you will not be happy with the outcome.
So during these next six weeks, don’t’ put love on hold, but be realistic about it, don’t be one of those fools who rush in where angel fear to tread.

hi! you helped me earlier this year, and I was wondering if you could help me now that my solar return is about to happen. My birth data is 03/13/1975 7:44am mountain view ca. I now live in yuma az. I’ve been trying to figure out my SR chart, but again have some things to understand. Mainly my SR rising sign is Cancer, with the moon in my 4th. In my natal I have cancer in my 4th with Saturn. I’m not sure what that means. Then I have three SR planets in my 9th house(I want to write and publish books) and I’m hoping this is a good thing for me. But I do have some fears because I have a stellium in my 8th,mars, neptune and jupiter conjuncting natal mercury and sextiling natal pluto. Will you help me with this please?

Solar returns can be confusing if you have not used them a lot or taken a course in how to interpret them. Fist when you do a return chart you need to make sure its done for the place where you had your birthday, which it looks like you did, as doing that gives you the Cancer Ascendant and if you do it for your birth place you would have a Leo Ascendant. The next thing that is important is that you look at the chart in comparison to your natal chart; you need to superimpose the return chart on your natal chart. A return chart does have meaning on its own, but the more important meaning is how it affects your natal chart. When you do this you see right away that the planets fall mostly in your natal 12th house.
What I found striking about your solar return chart is the return Pluto is on your natal MH, and the return MH falls on your natal Ascendant. So you may find that this is a year where you make changes in your career, you may have some difficulties in that area, but those difficulties put you in a position where you take control and make changes that have needed to be made for a while now.
You also always want to look at your progressions and transits to see if they also confirm what the return chart says. I like to have several indicators before I say anything about how a chart looks. I do find the solar returns useful, but only as a backup for the progressions and transits. When I looked at your progressed chart, I see the Moon is getting ready to move into Cancer and then go over your fourth house cusp, at the same time it opposes your MH, so you may find you move this year. You may also need to take on some family responsibilities
I hope this has helped you some. I am also going to suggest you look at the reports I have for sale on my website, one of them is a solar return report its an excellent way to get an overview of what your means, and I made them very affordable.

Good Luck

Astrologers cast a chart for the time the Sun enters each one of the cardinal signs as a way of looking at the energies we may experience during that season. The chart is usually cast for Washington DC in this country as that is considered the seat of activity for the United States. When this chart is looked at two things stand out immediately, the first is most of the planets in the chart fall in the 12th house, this house is traditionally the house of secrets, behind the scenes activity or wheeling and dealing behind closed doors. As the spring moves forward we will find out much has been going on, both good and not so good, that the public has not been aware of. The next is Venus, the planet that rules finances is right on the Ascendant of this chart, and retrograde, she goes direct on April 17th, indicates finances are still a huge concern. When she goes direct we may see a change in the stock market, since the stock market is now up, it may loose some of its ground around the middle of April.
The Moon in mundane astrology always represent the public, its in the tenth house in the sign of Capricorn, so the options and needs of the general public are being seen, people are not feeling overly optimistic and feel the urge to put pressure on the government, business or any power that be. Saturn in the sixth house of this chart indicates jobs are still scare and the jobless situation may get worse nation wide. So the country is in a somber mood.

So this is a time of worry a time of seriousness and a time of concern, but within all of this there is an understanding that by pulling together we can change what is now happening. Pluto the planet of major changes is making strong aspects to the Sun and Venus in this chart so even though we may not be happy we need to make changes, we will be in a better place by the end of the spring season than we were when it started.

Hi Lelonni,
I really enjoy reading your blogs. You’ve helped me a few times, and if you ever decided to write a book regarding astrology, I would have to buy it!
I want to buy one of your reports, but am having a hard time deciding which one would be the best one for me to buy right now.
What do you think?

Thank you so much for the kind words, they are appreciated. I have not yet written a book, but I do have an article on retrograde planets coming out in Dell Horoscope in the July issue.

As to the reports it depends on what you want, all have positive points, the natal report is an over view of who you are and if you have not had a natal chart done its a nice start. I personally like the lunar and solar return charts as they allow you insight to what is going on in your chart, the transit reports can also do that. so bottom line I am not a lot of help, they are all good reports it depends on what you are looking for.

Hey i have a few questions about astrology im hoping you can help me please, i re-sent this message because the last one i sent had no subject and i was unsure if you would read it. Anyway i was born on september, 3, 1993 at 2:08pm in Santa Ana California a birth chart i made on on alwaysaslrology.com says i have Neptune 18°34′ Я Capricorn, in House VII and goes on to say this
Neptune represents escapism, impressionability, daydreaming, delusions, carelessness, deception or intuition, dishonesty or inspiration, telepathy. Water is its element, it is moist, it rules Pisces, is in exaltation in Cancer, though some authors say it is Leo, and is in analogy with the vegetative system.
It represents dreamers, mediums, magicians, merchants of illusion, drug addicts.
Temperament : rather Lymphatic
Characterology : Emotive, non Active, Primary or Secondary type; it is a Sentimental, or sometimes Amorphous type.
Neptune in Capricorn
The planet Neptune symbolizes extreme receptivity, intense emotional sharpness, impressionability and inspiration; it is the planet of mediums, mystics and religious faith. In an astrological chart, it indicates dilution, vagueness, understanding one’s environment through emotions and the absence of clear and determined limits and structures. In your natal chart, Neptune’s house position is more important than his sign position because, like Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto, he is a slow planet. Many people born in the same period have Neptune in the same sign. This is the reason why the sign occupied here is less meaningful than when it is occupied by the so-called fast planets, i.e. the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars. Therefore, some caution is to be exercised as you read what follows. The sign positions of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have a collective meaning. They do not influence your personality, unless they are involved in numerous aspects or when they emphasize a personal point of your natal chart such as your Ascendant’s ruler, an angular planet, i.e. a planet near the Ascendant, the Midheaven, the Nadir or the Descendant. In such cases, the activity of the slow planet is very highlighted. Neptune in Capricorn brings a touch of humanity and emotion into your ambition made of cold and calculated vision. Or, on the contrary, it may disrupt your precise and clear vision of your professional future.
Neptune in House VII
With Neptune in the 7th House, your social life is subtle and vague, and follows an underlying and imperceptible, yet inflexible, logic. You are unable to figure out why you feel in tune with such or such person, whereas with another person, you just cannot relate. A glance, or a move, is all is needed in order to establish the contact… or prevent it. Life is made of subtleties which reason knows nothing of. The partner is a mirror, and sometimes, a distorting mirror.
Neptune Dominant
If Neptune is part of your natal chart’s planetary dominants, in astrology, you are said to be a Neptunian: your intuition is highly developed. You are of a contemplative nature, and you are particularly receptive to ambiances, places, and people. You gladly cultivate the art of letting-go, and you allow the natural unfolding of events to construct your world. You follow your inspirations, for better or for worse. At times, you display an extraordinary clairvoyance gift. You seem to be able to read your subconscious like a book, and you track down subtle underlying mechanisms, flaws, or open breaches. This innate intuition might explain the strokes of good luck which the Neptunian is sometimes credited with. However, you may also be the victim of illusions and misleading intuitions. You are an idealist, and you let your deepest aspirations prevail over the realities of the moment. Then, you set off in quest of some quixotic objective, living like a Don Quixote who relentlessly pursues an impossible dream. You have a great talent for psychology and the mysteries of the human soul. Since you instinctively perceive people’s intents and motivations, as you swim in the complexity of human nature, you feel in your element. The subtlety of your perceptiveness is the source of both special affections and irrevocable rejections. What is the danger of such a dominant? If it is not offset by other influences in your natal chart, you may not have an iron will. Your trump card is your instinct, which may be developed to the extent that it becomes clairvoyance.

i Am wondering if this is true about me or not? it dose feel right to me because i have very strong gut instincts and when i do happen to listen to them most of the time i benifit from it.. i also have very strange dreams its almost like im living it as i dream it they trip me out and i wake up remembering everything.. i am a canabis and have been so since i was 13 i smoke weed all the time and i love it i find that smoking weed makes me more in-tune with my soul and personality and i am also wondering if this is because neptune is on my birth chart.. Also i see shadows and figures occasonally.. im new at this astrology and i need your help! i hope you reply and help me discover myself! thank you for your time!

First thing I want to mention is the fact Neptune is not in your seventh house if the birth information you gave me is correct. You Neptune is in your first house, 2 degrees away from the second. If you were born at 2:08 Am then Neptune would be in your 7th. Many of the things you sent me are correct, Neptune is one of the generational planets, so many people have the same placement by sign, its how it works in your chart on a personal level that will affect you. Neptune rules many things, one of them is boundaries, and i have found in my practice that where you find Neptune by house is where a person needs to find personal boundaries. In your case if Neptune is in your first house it can indicate that you need to find personal boundaries, often people with this position have a difficult time making space that others cannot come into, especially on a psychic level. So what happens is you pick up others “issues” or “problems” as your own, and in most cases you don’t always have the awareness you are doing this. An example would be if your around a person with a very negative attitude all of a sudden you are feeling that way, or if your around someone who is not feeling well, all of a sudden your not feeling well. The other thing that happens with this placement is people don’t see you for who you are they see you as they need to see you. Its not that you attempt to mislead them or be anything except who you are, it just that they tend to project what they need for you to be on you, then don’t understand why your not that. It can be a frustrating placement usually with time and maturity you learn how to control the energy. Another area Neptune rules is the need to merge with something greater than yourself, and to me that is more why you use mind altering substances, you want to feel a part of a larger whole, the real world is to stressful and unruly to allow that, substances can give a false sense of peace and unity. The reality is you would be better off using the higher qualities of Neptune by embracing the need to merge with something larger than yourself, you can achieve this through spiritual practices and or meditation.

In your chart Neptune is an important figure as its in an exact conjunction with Uranus, and that conjunction makes a tight square to your Jupiter Mars conjunction. This is a sign of a deep need to find the meaning of life, a curious mind that is always searching and again as you mature you will gain more control over it.

I hope this has helped you some and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask them.

The planets Jupiter and Neptune will make a conjunction, or join each other in the sky, on May 27, 2009. All planets have predictable cycles they follow, it takes Neptune 164.79 years to travel through the zodiac, it takes Jupiter 12 years, so the cycle between these two planets is a conjunction once every 12 years and that conjunction will be in the sign Neptune occupies. The last time we had this conjunction was in 1997 in Capricorn, the last time these planets were conjunct in the sign of Aquarius, the position of the current conjunction, was in 1843 three years before we knew Neptune existed.
So we know this conjunction is an astrological big deal, as it does not happen very often. To understand the meaning of this conjunction we must first look at the meaning of the two planets involved. Jupiter is the planet that rules the sign Sagittarius, it’s known for its unwavering faith that anything is possible, its absolute need for freedom, a tendency for overindulgence or excessiveness, As the largest planet in our solar system, we look for Jupiter to do everything it does in a big way, so when its highlighted in the sky we can assume, anything that is larger than life will get our attention. Jupiter is like the superman of the zodiac, he fights for truth, just, and the American Way, at least in America. Jupiter rules our ability to get along with others that are not like us, as well as the legal system and judges. Neptune rules the sign Pisces, and is also known for having an unwavering faith that anything is possible, but Neptune has the ability to close its eyes to reality, and can believe things are possible without an understanding of what those things are or what facts are. Neptune’s strongest urge is the desire to merge with something greater than itself; it can have an unwavering faith that is not always based on facts. Neptune is a planet of glamour and illusions; it often hides from or hides the truth. Neptune is a planet that rules scandal, substance abuse and deception, as well as looking at the world through those wonderful rose colored glasses.
On a positive note these two planets together can give us a sense of hope and optimism, they allow us to look at the glass as half full and see all the possibilities that are laid in front of us, on a less than positive note they can color the truth and hide things from us. It’s a time when scandals, get very blow out of proportion, or something that is not a scandal appears to be one. It can also indicate not knowing all the facts and moving forward on what looks on the surface like correct information but in reality is flawed. Since the sign of this conjunction is Aquarius we can expect an increase in wanting to help others, a surge of understanding about all things environmental, a surge in the need for universal health care, an understanding of the needs of same gender couple to marry. So this conjunction is in its own way heralding the opening act to the Age of Aquarius.
Not all will be light and sunshine, as these two planets together can be extremely righteous and not always son a positive level, they can indicate a rise in radical religious issues, as these sections loose the control they have gained over the past several years, they will become more radial in the attempt to hang on. There can be a rise in drug s and substance abuse, it’s also an indication of things like the swine flu, my guess is we have not heard the last of it, but we are not hearing the truth about it, we are hearing a very over blown report on it, but the reality is with these two planets contagious disease is not something to ignore. We may also see floods throughout the world, as Neptune is the planet that rules Oceans and flood waters, and Jupiter expands and makes more of it.
For the United States this conjunction has special importances as it conjuncts the Moon in the chart of this country. The Moon in a Nations’ chart always represents the people or the common man. So we can assume the average person in this country will feel expansive on one hand but fear on the other, they will have a hope that has been lacking, so people are off balance they feel hopeful but they also fear the future , they want and need change but are afraid of the change they see coming. Since the Moon of the US is in the third house, it’s a strong indication of false rumors all summer, fear mongering, half truths, and purposeful misinformation. This country is going through a major change in consciousness, one of the side effects of this, is doubt and fear, it’s a natural process that happens in the mist of most change.
Our current president Barrack Obama has his progressed Moon in the sign of Aquarius, very close to the degree of the US chart, so this conjunction will affect him also, he will more than likely continue to be the focus of the hope in this country, he should keep his popularity, but he will also be exposed to many attacks from people who fear him.
This conjunction will be affecting all of us for most of 2009, as when planets meet in the sky and occupy the same area, they have as a rule, three times of exactness, for this conjunction the first time is May 27, the next two are July 10 and December 21.
Each of us will also be affected to a greater or lesser degree by these planets, all of us are affected because we are residents of earth, but some of us have positions in our own charts that make this a much more important “transit” on a personal level. Look to where the sign Aquarius is in your natal chart as that is the house were this conjunct will fall and have effect on you. You also want to look and see I you have any planets around the 26* of fixed signs, as that is an indication these planets are making a strong aspect in your horoscope.

I have a question for you if you can answer it please.
In mid October, Saturn will be crossing into my 7th house, which has me a bit worried since it will be there until next summer.
I’m not sure what is supposed to happen as it crosses my descendant. It will be opposing my moon, sun, jupiter in the 12th, and it will almost be conj. my pluto 8 degrees in the 7th.
Is this all a bad thing, meaning it will be a hard year ahead relationship wise, or can there be beneficial things that come out of it?
I’m working so hard on achieving my dreams right now, but feel any personal success is shown by the tranist to be a issue in my marriage. Is this true or am I overreacting?

Saturn is a much maligned planet, one of the reasons for that is Saturn is our teacher, and like any good teacher he makes you go over something until you get it right. Think back to when you were in school learning how to write, your firs attempt at making an A was probably not stellar so the teacher came over and had you do it over and over again until you did it correctly. Remember the pride you felt when it was done right, well that process is what Saturn does to us and how the planet affects our chart.

How harsh a teacher has to be when teaching can often times be up to the student, do you resits or do you take the lessons as an adventure. Our lives are very much that way when we look at our life a lessons to be experienced instead of times to seize up its always easier. The lessons of Saturn can be difficult but the rearwards are lasting once they are done. In your chart the 7th house is the flash point for this transit, that does not mean you “have” to have marriage issues, it can be a time when you learn how to handle your relationship in a very mature adult way, as Saturn goes through a house it insists we leave our childhood behind on the matter the house represents. So if you are unrealistic about relationships or are not being honest about them, Saturn can ask you to face those realities. If you are in a secure marriage with equality in the partnership, Saturn can support that and bring it to the next level, he can help you learn how to take care of that strong foundation you have built. That does not mean their are no challenges, you can have things happen that impact the marriage, but its how you respond to those challenges that end up dictating how Saturn will work. For example if you spouse becomes demanding, for whatever reason, how you approach that challenge is important. If you have insecurities and those demands make you feel insecure or unwanted or angry because you don’t know how to talk about it, the impact may not be positive until you learn how to deal with your feelings about what you spouse is asking. On the other hand if your secure in your relationship, you may lovingly laugh off your spouses insecurities making it a none issue. In that way you affirm your security and teach your spouse. i don’t want to sound like a Pollyanna when it comes to Saturn but often the fear of what he is going to do is greater than what really happens.
You also have to look at your natal Saturn to determine how is impacts your chart as Saturn shows where your karma and life lessons, or fears and blockages are. You want to look at your 7th house and see what story that tells, if you have a well aspected natal 7th no matter what planet hits it things won’t get that bad, if you have a very challenged 7th house it may be hard to avoid issues.

Understanding Retrograde Planets

The planets travel through the sky in an orbit around the Sun. This path follows the ecliptic, or the apparent path the Sun takes through the sky. Many, or most of the heavenly bodies, have what is called an apparent motion, since what they appear to be doing is not always what they are doing - such as in retrograde motion. Planets always move in the same direction around the Sun, when observed from the Earth, at times they appear as if they are going in a reverse or backwards direction. But planets do not have brakes, stop and start moving backwards - they only appear to be moving backwards. What is actually happening is the same phenomena you experience while sitting on a train that is not moving, but the train next to you is, therefore, you feel as if you are moving, when in reality you are at a stand still. When the planets are in a backwards type motion they demonstrate an astrological significance so that a retrograde planet takes on a slightly different meaning than when the planet is in direct motion.
A retrograde planet can be complicated, astrologically, as we cannot access the energy it provides as easily as we can a planet that is direct. When an astrologer looks at a natal chart and sees a planet that is retrograde she knows right away that planet has a challenge expressing itself, since it may not show the attributes of that planet in a straightforward manner. As an example, if Mars is retrograde in a natal chart the owner of the chart may have a difficult time completing tasks, and may not know how to tap into the energy and assertiveness of Mars. The frustration this creates can show up in many ways, such as inappropriate anger, not wanting to take on a challenge, or not being able to speak up for oneself. The astrologer would need to look at what sign and house placement Mars is in and the house Mars rules in the chart to get a full picture. Fortunately a birth chart is not static. This is why we grow and change throughout our life.
When an astrologer notices a retrograde planet, or planets, in the natal chart she will look at what that planet or planets might represent to the owner of the chart. More importantly the astrologer will take note when the retrograde planet/s goes direct by progression, which is often one way to interpret a chart. A progression is a way of charting the movement of a planet throughout the lifetime. The most common forms of progression are secondary progressions and solar arc progressions. Secondary progressions are what are known as “a day for a year.” If an individual were born on January 1, 1950, the astrologer would look at where the planets were on January 2, 1950, that would tell the astrologer what happened during the individual’s first year. January 31, 1950 would provide information of the individual’s thirtieth year and so on. In Solar Arc progressions you move each planet one-degree for each year of life. If the individual is five years old, each planet in the chart is moved five degrees. Each method has its strong points and I use both in order to interpret the chart more accurately. When I use progressions I often see a planet that was retrograde at birth turn direct by progression, or a planet that was direct at birth turn retrograde by progression. The birth chart we are born with is our blue print and that blue print is the foundation of who we are.
Progressions provide information of the transformations that occur throughout our life – both inner changes as well as outer. We are ever-changing beings, and how we approach areas of our life alters as we grow and mature, and learn and discover.
I have observed when planets change sign, house position or direction through progression, is an extremely important time in the individual’s life. Progressions are not always as dramatic in nature as transits; they represent more internal or subtle changes in the life. A major progression can occur without seeming to have a profound effect, but upon reflection, we realize it was a significant time of our life. An ordinary life event may end up being of significant importance in one way or another. Progressions often need the perspective of the passing years to bring the impact of a life event to the surface. We also need to keep in mind that a planet changing a house position is not as reliable as a planet that changes it’s sign or direction, as the house cusps depend on an accurate time of birth.
When a planet makes any change by sign, direction or house, the best way to break down how it will affect the individual is to have an understanding of how that planet works in the life. Everything must be considered - what sign and house the planet is in, what house does it rule, what are the aspects to it, does it aspect the ruler of the house it is in, does it aspect the ruler of the sign it is in, and how has the individual used this energy in the past, and how are they using it now.
The following is an example of a natal chart of an individual with Venus retrograde in the sign of Sagittarius located in the twelfth house, and ruling the fifth, sixth and tenth houses of the chart, (this is an intercepted chart). It’s important to understand that the planet Venus has rulership over many areas, including relationships, money and what the individual values. In this particular chart, Venus is a very active planet with several major aspects. It conjuncts Mercury, which is the ruler of the seventh and ninth house, it also conjuncts Mars, ruler of the fourth, and squares the Moon, ruler of the eighth, as well as squares Saturn and Pluto, both posited in the eighth house, with Saturn ruling the second house and Pluto ruling the eleventh and twelfth house. This is a lot of activity for one planet and has affected several areas of the individual’s life, creating feelings of insecurity about herself, a lack of self-worth and little confidence in the ability to care for herself emotionally and financially. Since Venus was retrograde in the first degree of Sagittarius at birth, she was a very young child when Venus moved back into Scorpio by retrograde motion.
Let’s take a more in-depth look at how this one particular planet’s motion from retrograde to direct affected a large part of this individual’s life. Since one of the houses Venus rules is the sixth house, and the sixth house being the house of health - her health became a concern at a young age, due to Venus’ retrograde motion back into the sign of Scorpio where it is at its detriment. However, although Venus is weak in Scorpio, Scorpio in itself is a strong sign and provided the fortitude and will to overcome whatever illness she was faced with.
The traditional meanings of the houses need to be interpreted from the perspective of a young child, such as Venus ruler of individual’s tenth house which is usually associated with career, but also represents one of the parents. In this situation with her natal Venus squaring her natal Moon, it would be safe to assume there with some issues with the parents and that one or both of the parents had a strong affect on her sense of self-worth, her day-to-day life, (sixth house) and her home environment since Mars conjuncts the ruler of the fourth house of home. As Venus traveled backwards in the sky, it came close to Mars. At the age of three, Mars and Venus met by progression. (Venus at 0* Sagittarius by retrograde motion and Mars had traveled forward in sign by progression to reach 0* Sagittarius.)

The planets have an individual meaning in each chart, that meaning is determined by the natal placements. But each planet also has a generic meaning and for Venus one of these generic meanings is love and the love life. Since in this chart Venus is Retrograde and in the twelfth house, the native had difficulty from the beginning with affairs of the heart. As a teen she had her first romantic encounters, the boyfriends she choose always ended up being controlling and possessive forcing her to constantly revaluate what she wanted from a relationship. Most of these relationships were rocky and volatile. Her relationships and marriages, two of them, only reinforced her feeling that she could not take care of herself, especially since she attracted men that controlled her through financial matters. When she was in her mid 30’s Venus went direct by secondary progression, that year she got what she thought was a job. Since Venus ruled her sixth and tenth house’s the change of direction had a huge impact on her work life. The sixth house is the house of work the tenth house is the house of career. So an impact on both houses at the same time would indicate a major career choice. She had worked many jobs, but never had a career. This job turned into a life passion, but at the time it just seemed like getting a job. This career opportunity had its ups and downs but it allowed her to build up her self confidence as well as her sense of self worth. It also provided her with some financial security. Life being what it is, it did not allow her to just enjoy this new self confidence The planet Uranus was about to conjunct her natal Venus by transit and the planets Saturn was about to go over her tenth cusp by transit. The tenth house is the fourth from the seventh so it at times indicates the end of a marriage, the fourth house is endings. Bu the tenth house is also the house of career and public acclaim so as her marriage started to fall apart her career was thriving. This planetary influence allowed her to finally understand she no longer needed to be controlled for financial or emotional security. The 28 years it took for Venus to return to the position she was in when this person was born was a time of self discovery and growth. Along with the help of Transits to her natal planets from the planets Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto she found out she could care for herself both financially and emotionally.

No one planet transit or progression makes a life, but a closer look at retrograde planets allows an astrologer to understand where the main frustrations are in a life. As we watch the retrograde planets in a chart we can determine when relief from frustration is likely or when the areas of the life indicated by that planet are ready for change. We can help our clients make sense of what happens in their life on a deeper level.

This month we have two eclipse, the first is a Lunar Eclipse that will occur tomorrow at 5:21 AM EST, t he second will occur later in the month on July 21, 2009 at 10:35 PM EST. The first event is the opening act for the major event, the Solar Eclipse. The lunar eclipse tomorrow will not be visible to the naked eye, and is not a major astronomical event but astrologically it has significance. All Full Moon’s have an energy all their own, when part of an eclipse even a minor one they become a Super Full Moon. So expect the “Full Moon Craziness” to be high this week. It has already started and you may see people acting out. Since this Moon highlights the signs Cancer and Capricorn security needs will be highlighted. In the Horoscope of the United States this eclipse sets off a financial area, so it’s very possible we collectively feel the urge to make things better we may find people feeling more vulnerable and because of those feelings wanting to do something to make it right. It may also indicate that the houses market shows signs of weakness again, something we are not expecting can make things appear worse than they really are. Your personal horoscope will be highlighted in the area where this eclipse falls. This is not a time to make a major decision based on emotions, it’s a time to allow yourself to feel and understand your insecurities so you can deal with them appropriately, or when the overly emotional feelings have left you. Doing something based on how you feel right now can be regretted later on.
The full Moon is a time to look at what you need or want to change in your life; it’s a time to plan and put aside anything that no longer serves you well. The strength of the Full Moon is in its ability to force you to look inward, our fears, discomforts, and insecurities are all the triggers set off by Full Moon energy. As we become self aware we can recognize this energy and be thankful that we have a way to recognize it as well as ways to deal with it.
The Solar Eclipse, and super super New Moon will bring the energy to make the changes we need to make in our lives. On a universal level this Eclipse is special as it’s exceptionally long almost 7 minutes. The longer an eclipse is the more powerful its influence. This eclipse is also unique because a second Lunar eclipse will happen two weeks after this on August 6, 2009. This is a tremendous amount of energy being sent our way!! It will be 130 years before we have anything similar to this set up and length of time again. So take advantage of the energy’s at your disposal this month. This New Moon Eclipse will be in the last degree of the sign Cancer, again highlighting our security needs, it also highlights looking at what is really important to us, what do we really need to be secure and happy, we all need something different, this is the time to look inward and find out what it is, then take the actions to make things happen.
Don’t forget to have a plan for this month, make time to be quiet and reflective during both lunar events. Start today, make a plan for yourself, take actions as we build up to the New Moon.

Hi Lonni,

My question: From your point of view, how are astrology and acupuncture related and how can I use this connection to enhance acupuncture treatments?

Thank you,
Marty S

Hi Marty

First I have put your question and my answer on my blog, www.astrologybylelonni.com. Your question is an interesting one as well as one that goes to a subject I am very drawn to. I have always had an interest in the medial side of astrology, in days gone by a Dr. was always an astrologer; you could not treat a patient unless you were an astrologer as well a physician. A chart was done on the time the patient took to their bed, so the progress of the disease could be cheated. The physicians symbol the caduceus has astrological origins as it was the staff of the God Mercury or Hermes.

Where I think astrology has value in acupuncture related issues is the use of the elements and the modalities. Astrology has four elements it uses fire, earth, air and water, it also has four modalities, cardinal, fixed and mutable these also relate to the Ayurvedic temperaments Pitta, Vata and Kapha. If an acupuncturist has knowledge of these areas of astrology they can get a better look at where blockages are and the type of temperament the patient may have. For example if you have a patient with a lot of fire you know immediately the types of disease that can attack the body, you also know how to tamp down the fire. In my practice I use the elements a lot to determine a person’s temperament, and when they have too much of one or a lack of another I can suggest lifestyle changes that will increase or decrease these elements. I can also look a the modalities and get a handle on how a person approaches life, that also lends itself to life style changes that can encourage or discourage the qualities. The final way astrology can help is, astrology is a way of looking into a person’s charka system, the planets have an affinity for each of the chakras, you can see where blockages are coming from, in the current as well as from past lives. This also allows you to see where a person may need energy freed up, it’s a faster way into blockages as well as a look into where energy is moving freely.

So through the knowledge of a birth chart you get a physic x-ray into the person, you see where the spirit and the soul are in this life, allowing you to offer constructive suggestions to improve health and mental attitude.

Mercury Retrograde September 7-September 29, 2009

Astrology is not about telling your future, we all create our future with the decisions we make. Astrology is about helping you with those decisions and timing them so they can work more to your advantage. Astrology helps you understand yourself, others and what is going on around you. We have many universal indicators that we can pay attention to, such as New and Full Moon, Eclipses, major planetary alignments and retrograde periods. All planets have a retrograde phase; it’s an apparent backwards motion. If you have ever taken a train ride, and have had that feeling of motion like you are moving backwards when your train is standing still but the one next to you is moving in a forward motion, you know how a planet feels when it is retrograde. To continue with the train example you know when this happens you can feel a little disoriented, even though you know what is happening. The same happens to the planets they often get a little disoriented they are a little off during their retrograde periods. The periods are predictable and regular; the further out the planets go the longer the periods of retrograde motion. Each planet has a meaning, and influences on earth that get all mixed up when that planet seems to move backwards. A very simplified version of the meaning of each planet is as follows. Remember the Sun and Moon are not planets so they do not retrograde.

Mercury—Day to day actives, communications, short distance travel
Venus—–Finances, beauty, fashion, what we want and how we get it
Mars——Aggression, assertion, beginnings anger and how we deal with it
Jupiter—-Expansion, optimism, luck, view of the world at large
Saturn—-Restrictions, pessimism, hard work, lesson in life
Uranus—-All the is new and innovative, free thinking, rebellion
Neptune—Dreams, sensitivity, scandals, creativity,
Pluto——Power, regeneration, birth, death

Each planet has its place in our lives and in society as a whole, the planets up to Saturn are called the personal planets and the ones ancient Astrologers knew about and used, the outer three, and more as we find them, have more of a cultural influence. All of them affect us personally and as humanity in general. You can see as each of these planets go retrograde they deal with some import ant life qualities that get disrupted. On a personal level we react to a greater or lesser degree depending on our own charts. For example if we were born with one of the planets retrograde we may have had difficult with that aspect of our personality, so when the planets in the sky goes retrograde and everyone else is having a hard time you feel right at home, there are many variables that have to be considered to know how it will affect each of us on an individual level.

The planet that seems to causes the biggest problem and disrupts the most people is Mercury, the smallest planet in our solar system, and the one closest to our Sun, the messenger of the God’s. Mercury rules the little things in life, like communications, including the mail, conservations telecommunications, so when he is retrograde these things get all mixed up, people talk but don’t hear each other, phones break, misinformation is around. He also rules travel, so travel plans get all mixed up, you buy a plane ticket have everything ready to go, and on the day of the flight you notice the ticket has the wrong date on it . You make plans to meet your sister for lunch you get there she is no where to be found, because she is at another restaurant in another town. He also rules things like shopping so much of what you buy during this time period has to be returned, retrograde means going backwards. Its best not to make a major purchase during this time period, but it’s a great time to investigate and make inquiries about what you are thinking of purchasing. We cannot stop living our lives during these periods so a word to the wise, be careful. Check all you facts before doing something don’t get all upset because you heard your friend said something about you, make sure you cross all your T’s and dot all your I’s.

People who know about astrology are often afraid of Mercury retrograde, often its one of my first questions in a class, when will it happen and what will it do to me. Relax the worst its going to do is cause some minor, maybe major annoyances in your life. There is a lesson in this, slow down and pay attention to what you are doing and what you are saying. This is a good time to reread that book you enjoyed so much a couple of years ago, make a call you have been meaning to make, but be careful what you say. Look at those appliances you want, but investigate make sure they are what you want before you purchase, if you can put the actually purchase off until after Mercury goes direct its great if not well be really careful. Mercury has already been retrograde twice this year between, January11 and January 31 and May 7 and May 29, look back and see if anything happened, it may give you an idea of how these time periods affect you. It depends on where it happens in your own chart and what planets it hits as it does so, but in general looking back can let you know if this is a really difficult time for you or one that is not so bad. Pay attention to these time periods keep track of them and you can work with them as they happen in the future. It’s going to happen at least three times a year no matter what we do so we may as well learn to work with it.

On Oct 30th of this year the planet Saturn will enter the sign of Libra. When a planet changes signs we feel a collective change of focus. Each planet in our solar system has average amount of time it spends in each time, as we have the outer planets, starting with Saturn change signs it’s a slower and more subtle change than when planets like Mercury or Venus change focus. The outer planets bring issues to our attention, issues we need to deal with on both an individual level and a collective level.
Saturn is a planet that deals with structure, planning, creating a strong base, Saturn also helps us set up boundaries and take responsibility for ourselves. On a less positive level Saturn represents our fears, our inability to let go of negativity, Saturn forces us to look at the hard reality of our lives and what our limitations are, or what we perceive them to be. So Saturn changing sign or focus is a big deal astrologically.
For the past two and a half years Saturn has been in the sign of Virgo, Virgo is a sign that is concerned with things of a practical nature; such as service, the workforce, health issues, nutritional issues and fixing problems, so it’s not surprising that while Saturn was in Virgo the debate over health care became such a central focus, or that we have such a high unemployment rate. I just read an article that said this is the worst unemployment we have faced since 1964, the last time Saturn was in Virgo. Virgo is the sign that represents the armed forces of a nation, so Saturn through the sign is going to put stress and strain on the armed forces, so we can “fix” problems that have been ignored,
Now Saturn is going into Libra, Libra is a sign that is concerned with balance, making things fair for everyone, working in cooperation with others. We learn how to look at issues from points of views that may not match our own. The energy that comes with Saturn in Virgo will give up a start on learning how to communicate with each other with such rancor. But because Saturn represents fears it will take time for us to get where we need to get for that to happen. The universe is giving us the ability to start the healing process not just in this country but worldwide, we can work in cooperation instead of each, person, country, nation and such worrying only about “their” needs. It’s going to take time but things will start to come into balance.
Saturn will also affect us on an individual level, those who are Libra’s or have Libra planets, or planets in Aries, Cancer and Capricorn will have Saturn in a strong hard aspect to those planets. This often means a time when things just go a whole lot slower than we like them to go, it can also indicate times of crisis in our lives, we are forced to look at what is holding out back, where we have our imbalances. It’s not uncommon during this process to feel tired, and worn out. That comes from being forced to face areas of our lives that are not working, areas we have maybe not paid as much attention to as we should have. Maybe our fears are realized so we can deal with them more directly. Each chart is personal so each individual is affected differently, but common themes show themselves.
Instead of fearing Saturn transits as the harbinger of “difficulties” in our lives, we can learn to embrace Saturn as our teacher, the patient energy that stands by us and points out our mistakes as we make them and then takes the time to make us redo things until we get it right. If you work with Saturn you will find you have a life with a strong foundation.

I want to encourage you to ask questions about astrology, it was my original intent for this blog. No questions are off limit, but I am not going to do interpretations on personal chart, I can discuss what a particular transit or progression may mean or how use placement in your own chart.

The planets Saturn and Uranus are named after God’s from Greek and Roman myths. Uranus or Ouranos is the God of the ancient skies, Saturn or Chronos is the God of time. They are also father and Son, Uranus is the father Saturn the Son. In Astrology Saturn represents the status quo, the need to be patient, he is a teacher and often his lessons are harsh, or ones we would rather not deal with, but he is patient and persistent, he guides us through life, shows us our fears and helps us learn how to overcome them. Saturn does not like change and he does not like things happening to quickly. In Astrology Uranus represents the need for change, the need for things to happen quickly, a resistance to authority, Uranus urges us to take chances and risks, sometimes just for the pure thrill of taking them. So these two planets have a natural tension between them.
It takes Saturn about 28 ½ years to go through the zodiac, spending about two and a half years in each sign. It takes Uranus about 84 years to go through the zodiac or about 7 years per sign. During the routine orbit these planets meet up and make what an astrologer calls an aspect, it’s a mathematical calculation of the distance between these planets. One of the major aspects is an opposition, this is a 180* distance between these two planets. The last time they were in opposition was in the mid sixties, we are now experiencing these planets again in opposition in the sky. They have met three times over the past year in this opposition aspect and about to make the fourth and fifth contact, in April and July of 2010,
Since these planets represent such a different approach to life, it’s hard for them to get along, so when in opposition, or opposite each other they attempt to force their agenda on the other. We on planet earth get caught up in this war between the Titan’s, sometimes to our determent, sometimes to our benefit. In the sixties we saw these two planets create the energy for the need to change, along with another powerful planet Pluto. The sixties were exciting and liberating, but they were also a time when those who made the “rules” hung on and resisted change. We also saw those who wanted to create change at times become radical and sometimes give no thought to how the chance affected society.
We are not in a time that totally mimic’s the sixties but its close astrologically, it’s a time of unrest, one side wanting to keep things the way they are, the other wanting change and those two sides have a very difficult time seeing the others point of view, so once again these Titan’s set up the energy needed to create unrest, rebellion and fear of change. This energy is in the building phase, and will get stronger before it gets better as the planet Pluto is getting ready to join his fellow planets in creating mischief on out little planet.

More of this at another time, but for now I want to talk about what these planets are doing physically to earth. A good friend of mine sent me some information today in an email; we have had quite a few earth quakes lately, could it be Saturn and Pluto, she sent me a list of the past few weeks

• Magnitude 6.8 VANUATU October 08, 2009
• Magnitude 6.6 SANTA CRUZ ISLANDS October 08, 2009
• Magnitude 7.3 VANUATU October 07, 2009
• Magnitude 7.7 SANTA CRUZ ISLANDS October 07, 2009
• Magnitude 7.8 VANUATU October 07, 2009
• Magnitude 6.7 CELEBES SEA October 07, 2009
• Magnitude 6.6 MORO GULF, MINDANAO, PHILIPPINES October 04, 2009
• 2009 Olancha, CA Earthquake Sequence (updated)
• Magnitude 6.6 SOUTHERN SUMATRA, INDONESIA October 01, 2009
• Magnitude 7.6 SOUTHERN SUMATRA, INDONESIA September 30, 2009
• Magnitude 8.0 SAMOA ISLANDS REGION September 29, 2009
• Magnitude 6.1 BHUTAN September 21, 2009
This is a pretty impressive list of rumblings and tumbling. And I agree with her on the two planets that are the most responsible for this, our friends Saturn and Uranus. Uranus is the planet of earthquakes. Now that these planets are heading toward the Cardinal signs of Aries and Libra we may experience more unusual weather and natural disasters. When the earth shakes during an earth quake it is releasing energy, energy that has to be released or our earth could not be the fertile planet we thrive on, so like everything else in nature earthquakes have a purpose. But at this point in time it’s also a representation of just how unsettled the energy of this planet is right now. It’s a cry for all of us to be less uptight and more willing to flow with life, and accept change as a part of the process.

We have two important planetary events this month. The first event was Mars transiting into Leo. Normally Mars changing signs is not a big deal, but this time around Mars will be in Leo a very long time. In general Mars spends about two months in a sign, but because of Mars’s retrograde period this time around it will be in Leo for 8 months. This is a long time for the God of War to stay in one place.
In a Horoscope Mars represents our ability to do things to take action, it’s the need for stimulation or to get things started, not finished but started, its masculine energy so it’s often used in sports or games of completion. A strong Mars is very competitive, and it hates to lose. Mars also represents our anger. Our tolerance level, Mars can push buttons, its energy that need to be used or it can turn inward in a negative way.
Leo is a fire sign that likes attention; it likes to be noticed for everything it does, it’s also a competitive sign all the fire signs are. The energy of Leo is larger than life, often dramatic, but always loving and protective. Leo is a sign that protects what is theirs, it’s a sign that always wants to be in charge it’s the natural leader.
So now we put Mars in Leo and we get a lot of fire a lot of energy and often drama. This is a combination that wants to accomplish, it wants to take charge, it wants to do what needs to be done. This is not a combination to be taken lightly. This is also a combination that is generous, good hearted, the energy of a leader. When Mars goes retrograde it becomes very frustrating for this combination.
What that means for those of us who have to deal with it is feeling like you are driving with one foot on the gas pedal and one foot on the brakes, it’s an energy of jump starts. It will be the most personal for people with fixed sign planets in their personal horoscope, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius. Where this Mars falls in your chart will show the area of your life where you want to move forward but feel like you can’t. This is true for everyone but magnified for the fixed signs.
On a more universal level it can mean that leaders have a difficult time in general, they may have all sorts of great ideas, but they can’t get them moving they don’t get the cooperation they need to move forward. It can also mean things get blown out of proportion on all levels. So be prepared for big ideas, that don’t get off the ground. One a positive level this is the perfect time to review what needs to be done, to make plans and prepare for action. It’s not a time to be impulsive.
In the chart of the USA Mars will be in the eighth house, one of the financial houses and it can indicate that the current debt this county has will be a focal point, a frustration for many people, more so than it is now. This debt may put us in a position of not being able to accomplish what we need to accomplish. This combined with Pluto in Capricorn and Saturn entering Libra is a financially difficult combination for this country, so I tend to think our recovery will not be as quick or as positive as we would like to see.
This leads to the second planetary event of the month, on Oct. 29th Saturn will enter Libra for the first time in 28 ½ years. As Saturn leaves the sign of Virgo we can look back and see that areas that the sign Virgo rules such as health care, employees, and the way we live our lives on a day to day level have all undergone some major changes and frustrations, Saturn highlighted these areas as they have not had attention for many years. As Saturn enters the sign of Libra we want to look at what the sign represents astrologically, it’s the ability to get along with others, creating balance and improving relationships, so we will now see those things highlighted. The positive side to this is we will have a chance as a nation to once again be thought of in a positive way by the rest of the world, we no longer have the need to bully and will work towards listening to others and doing what is right for everyone. Things will balance out. One a personal level Saturn going into Libra will affect the cardinal signs Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. These signs will all experiences a slowing down and a need to look at where they are. Saturn transits are always a time of self reflection, if we don’t embrace self reflection, the universe will provide us with opportunities that ensure we do. Saturn transits are a time of maturing, no matter what our age. We always have lessons to learn some more difficult than others. Saturn will bring us the rewards of our labor; this can be positive or difficult. Where we don’t have a strong foundation Saturn will make life uneasy until we understand how to make that strong foundation.
In the chart of the USA, this transit may be a difficult one, as we are now dealing with not having a firm financial foundation, Saturn along with Pluto and Uranus are lining up to make some difficult aspects to the chart so the excesses of the past are still catching up with us. Those who have been frugal and worked hard to make a stable life will be rewarded those who have not may need to learn how to do so.

What are the planets doing this week and how does it affect my life? Week of Nov 8, 2009

The second week in November produces a lot more tension in the sky as Saturn and Pluto square each other, while Mars in Leo’s T-square with the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune is strengthened by the Moon joining them. We are apt to see people feeling tense and hostile, as things, many things get blown out of proportion. Its not inconceivable that we hear upsetting news of some type, especially in the financial world. As the Saturn Pluto gets closer to exact we may see the government step in and take more control of financial institutions , this is going to happen in increments.

Venus entered Scorpio today, so that makes six of the ten planetary places in fixed signs, so even though we may hear many things get an idea something is about to happen, it would seem things are struck and not much actually happens or gets done. On a personal level it can mean its difficult to get anything to move or happen. This is a temporary situation and will let up in a couple of weeks. So patience is a huge asset right now

It a week that is abundant in energy that is not always easy to handle, we often don’t know what we want or how to go about getting it, and that feeling comes out as frustration. So this may not be a week to finalize projects, or come up with plans that cannot be changed at a later date.
For those of you who have a birthday this week
These planetary position are extremely important as you will be affected more than everyone else. Avoid confrontations as people in general seem to be pushing your buttons. Don’t believe everything you hear and don’t hold in what you are feeling ,deal with it upfront so it doesn’t become something you can’t deal with at a later date.
The good news is romance is at your door, so go enjoy time alone with someone you lover.

To start this week on Monday we have a New Moon is Scorpio. The new Moon is always a time for new starts, each month brings us an opportunity to create the life we want by using the energy of the New Moon. Using the energy of the sign the Moon is in can enhance your ability to attract that you desire.
The New Moon in Scorpio is one of the more powerful New Moon’s, as Scorpio is a sign that has magic and power as a part of its energy.
This New Moon works well helping you purge any area of your life that needs to be cleaned up, it’s a time to let go of that you no longer need or no longer serves you.
This New Moon squares the planet Neptune, this energy can allow us to dream and create.

Another important Astrological event this week is the exact square of Saturn and Pluto, this is a rough square that will influence the energy of the rest of this year and into the next.
This square will of course work on a global level but will be very strong in the United States as it is touching of major points in the horoscope of this country. One of the bigger things we need to aware of is that fear can be a product that is abundant during this time, and some will use it to get what they want. It’s a bullying aspect, so you may see many instances of people pushing personal agendas regardless of how it affects other.
The best way to handle this energy is to not get caught up in the hype and fear mongering.
The planet Uranus is making a wonderful trine to the New Moon in Scorpio, this can indicate that the public, represented by the moon finds new ways to express themselves. We may find new ways for people to express what they want. This is a very creative aspect, one that can have a lot of fun with doing this in ways that run counter to the norm.
Last but not least the planet Mercury has entered the sign of Sagittarius, as it does so it makes a really nice sextile to Saturn in the sign of Libra. This is a terrific combination for communications. We may hear news that is encouraging.
If you have a birthday this week
This can be a week of great opportunity. It’s a wonderful time to take a chance do things that you have been putting off.
You may find yourself indulging this week, if you don’t want to expand the waist line you need to be careful

Hi Lelonni,
I have a void of course moon on my natal chart, and have read a few different theories that having one will cancel other void of course moons that occur. What is your theory on that? Thanks

We enter Thanksgiving with Venus very active in the sky. Venus is the planet of love, luxury, pleasure and in general feeling good. So she will surely make this Thanksgiving one we enjoy. Venus will also remind us of just how much we really have to be thankful for.
The Sun enters the sign of Sagittarius today, astrologically that is the beginning of the holiday season, as Sagittarius represents all the pomp and circumstances that goes with any celebration. I tend to think if Santa Clause has a sign of the zodiac to represent him it surely would be Sagittarius!!
On a more serious note the planet Mars is also very active this week, he is also acing out in the chart of the United States, Mars is entering the ninth house of foreign affairs, so we may face a challenge from some outside source. Mars is also making a square to Venus in the sky that affects the eleventh house of the US chart, the eleventh house represents our representatives so we may see more bickering, name calling and fighting. Its hard to believe they can become any difficult than they already are, but with mars stirring the pot its likely
The planet Mercury is moving closer to its upcoming sextile to the planet Uranus, these two planets together can come up with some off the wall ideas that work, so we may find people in general looking for creative ways to solve problems.

If your birthday is this Week

This is a great week to be a birthday boy or girl!! Mars in fiery Leo is making a nice trine to your Sun, so you are ready to enjoy life. You need to be careful not to overdue as you can feel as if life has no limits right now.

Sorry this took so long to get to, life has been busy!! Without knowing your entire chart it’s hard for me to give anything but a vague response to your question. To me no one thing stands on its own in a birth chart, each planet, aspect house etc interacts with the other components of a chart making the whole, but each separate component does have a general meaning. Void of course basically means no contact with other planets, so in general it can mean difficulty in touching the emotional needs, it can also mean it’s difficult to express the emotional needs. My experience is that people with void Moon’s tend to have some frustration in the area the Moon influences, so for example if the void Moon is in the third house it may be difficult to get out what you want to say, you often cannot find the words to say what you need to express. I also find that as the moon goes out of the void by progression things are better; when the Moon is back in a void mode by progression the difficulties again rear their ugly little heads.
As to whether or not it’s easier to deal with the void, I have not done any research on that so it’s hard for me to say which way it would go. But I will say I think people with void Moon’s react a little more intensely to the cycles of the Moon.

This week Venus will join the Sun and Mercury in the sign of Sagittarius, that will be the real kick off to the holidays. Sagittarius loves a good holiday celebration, and in many cases can over do. One of the reasons we get so out of control in spending, eating, drinking and doing whatever makes us feel good in December is the Jupiter Effect. The will always be in Sagittarius this time of year as are Mercury and Venus, this trio urges us to have fun, forget about consequences and in general make us feel as if anything can be done without worry. This is a joyous combination that strongly contributes to the feeling of “goodwill” to all. It’s a feel good time of year.

This year mars in Leo is making a nice trine to those Leo planets, pushing us do what feels good. Mars in Leo is all about making grand gestures, so we may see some large outpouring to help the less fortunate.
Mercury will be sextiling the planets Jupiter and Neptune, while Squaring the planet Uranus, it then moves into Capricorn at the end of this week., what this all means is we all have a large sense of optimism, we feel better about things in general than we have for a long time. Reality may not be something any of us want to look at right now. We may find ourselves over promising and not able to deliver, but as Mercury enters Capricorn all of us will become a little more sober. For that matter my feelings are the beginning of this week will have some good new, people will send money as if we have no financial issues, and by the end of the week you may be rethinking your extravagances.
When Mercury enters Capricorn it will conjunct Pluto and square Saturn. This is a time of caution, a time when we may hear news that the economy has not recovered as much as we thought it had, sales for Charismas season may not be where they need to be for retailers, but the up side to this is, as individuals we may be a little more thoughtful about what we do financially. So if you can wait until the end of the month to make an important financial decision do so.

New Feature
If you are born the week of this news letter email me with your birth information and I will send you a complimentary Horoscope interpretation.

If you have a birthday this week you may find your energy levels sore as Mars makes a beautiful trine to your Sun. This is a great time for you to push projects that you have not gotten around to. Your creative and full of enthusiasm. It’s a great week for self confidence.

The planet Mars goes into retrogarde motion today. All the planets have retrograde periods, its an apparent backwards motion created when the earth passes the planet in the sky, it’s a common occurace that has a regular cycle. Mars has a retrograde cycle of about ever two years, it lasts approximatelly 80 day, so this cycle last until March 10, 2010.
This cycle for any planet represents a holding back or diffuclt in moving forward on the energy that planet represents. To further understand how the energy is held back first we need to understand the energy. Each planet expresses itself differentlly and each planet has an astrological meaning. For Mars its assertion, that word can cover many areas and have many definitions. Its assertion in the sesne of starting things or getting something done, its also the assertion of self or the ability to put your ideas out “their”. Mars is also our ability to stand up for ourselves, how we express anger as well as our gut reactions. Mars can be cruel, impulsive and selfish, but he can also be confident and a ambitious. For this retrograde Mars is in the sign of Leo, Mars likes being in Leo as it’s a fire sign that loves to express itself. Mars in Leo is very enthusiastic in all its endevors, it want to do things in a big way, its always a little over the top. It’s a combination that loves life and lives it to the fullest. Its quick to anger but also quick to forgive. It can be a rebellious combination that pushes the envelope. Its also charming and use to getting its own way, so ths is a dynamic combination of planet and sign.
In retrograde motion the ability to asert onesself is difficult, things seem far away and hard to reach, the brakes are on, I call this a driving at a hgih speed with one foot on the gas but the other foot is on the brake, the urge to do things is their but blocks or barrier seem to prevent getting things done. It’s a frustrating combination. Add the sign Leo into this and its extremelly diffulct neither Mars or Leo want to be told to wait or to slow down, which is just what they have to do.
As Mars makes this transit its energ will affect all of us, espcially those who have planets in the fixed signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. These signs will feel the brunt of this passage. It’s a time when you need to be careful what you say, that you don’t act overly aggressive or jump to conclusions. Drawing a line in the sand right now will only lead to issues up the road, it’s not a time for black and whites it’s a time to slow down and think about what you want to do, say or start. You also need to watch holing things in and not discussing them out in the open, anger can fester and become more than it really was.
On a worldwide level it can indicate hostilities that surface because of repression, it’s a time when countries tend to show a lot of bluster but have no substance behind it. Mars is the planet of fighting so more covert types of activities are very possible. Leo is the sign of leaders so it’s a time when all leaders have a difficult time getting their ideas or plans off the ground, all attempts at progress take one step forward and ten backwards. Hostility towards leaders can come out
So as you run into all sorts of annoying events over the next couple of months remember to look inward see what is really going on, are you not dealing with repressed feelings are you really angry and have not been able to express it. Look to where the sign Leo falls in your horoscope that will show the area of your life that is most going to be affected.

This week starts off a little quietly from an astrological stand point. Both Mars and Mercury have made the move into retrograde positions, so you need to double check all your facts and hold back your frustrations. This energy will be around us for the next 3-14 weeks, so patience’s is the key to peace of mind.
Venus will join Pluto early Monday morning, so if you have anyone special in mind now is the time to make your feelings known. Since she squares Saturn at the same time it may feel awkward, so be slow and patient then what you desire will come to you.
The Moon is the big story this week as not only do we have a full Moon New Years Eve, we have a partial lunar eclipse. The Moon is in the sign of Cancer and opposes the Sun in Capricorn, so this full Moon eclipse will bring the struggle of balancing career and family life to the forefront. Since we have two retrograde planets and the Sun and Moon in signs that represent things from the past, we may very likely find past actions come up for review, things you may have thought were over and done with once again come to your attention. You also need to make sure anything you promise is something you can deliver on, as this energy will not allow you to say one thing and do another without notice.
We ring in the New Year this week, 2008 is a memory and 2010 comes with unexpressed opportunity. The New Year gives all of us opportunities to plan and create what we want out of life. Saturn the planet of patience is “Father Time”, a message that all things come with time.

The world is now in the throes of 2012 furor. Why does this time period hold such sway over us and what is it really all about, if you would like some answers to these questions please join me at my workshop “The Astrology of 2012”

On Dec 21, 2012 several factors are coming together, the end of the Mayan Long Calendar, the Galactic Alignment, the 11 year solar cycle will be at its peak, and of course it’s the day of the winter solstice, do these things indicate disaster or are they being over hyped.

My three hour talk, with a question and answer period, will discuss how the years 2010 and 2011 may actually have more challenges for us. I will discuss the Mayan culture and the calendar system they used, and why the long calendar stops 12/21/2012, I will also discuss the precession of the equinox a 26,000 +or- cycle that has sway over the energy of the universe and of course affects all of us here on planet Earth. During this talk I will also discuss how each of us can work with this energy instead of resisting it.

We are entering an exciting time, understanding the energy of this time will give us the tools to understand what is happening in our world, and will allow us to be a positive part of change.

This is a big week astrologically, we start the week with a nice Sun Venus conjunction. This is a nice combination for making piece so if you’re a world leader or just someone who needs to make amends this is the week to take advantage of planetary influences. You can get results with a charm offensive. On the 15 Mercury finally goes direct you may feel a shift of energy, things that seemed complicated and just did not seem to work out now go smoothly, you can make agreements that will last, your thinking becomes clearer. On the same day we have a New Moon with a solar eclipse. The New Moon is always a day of renewal and a time to plan for future success. Don’t let the day go by without making a plan. If you know where the New Moon falls in your chart you can make it more personal, if you don’t just use the energy of Capricorn and Saturn, its an energy of planning, make a list of what you want, then take the actions you need to take to create your reality. The fact this New Moon is an eclipse makes it all the more powerful.
Eclipse are times of energy and power, they often indicate areas of difficulties that need to be addressed, so when an eclipse bring an issue to the forefront its usually something that has been ignored for a long time and now is the time to deal with it. On a planetary level it can indicate hot spots around the world, where the eclipse is visible are the areas that are being highlighted, in this case the areas are the Mid East, China, India and Sri Lanka. This eclipse is in Capricorn so it can indicate power grabs or take over’s.
On the 13th Saturn goes retrograde and again starts an applying square to Pluto, this is a combination that can increase tensions, so do what you can to avoid hanging onto grudges, don’t allow fears to hold you back, be assertive without being aggressive and this energy can work for you

Here we are the last week of January already, so hard to believe the New Year is already a thing of the past. This week brings with it the second of three squares the powerful planets Saturn and Pluto will make. The first was in November of 2009, the last will be in July of 2010. This square is one that indicates power struggles, its an aspect that want to pave the way for change, these planets do not necessarily imply change of one type or another they just indicate paving the way for change. When we have this type of energy people are tense, you may see an uptick in political bantering and challenges. On a personal level you need to be cautious that you don’t make things more important than they are, don’t thrown the gauntlet down unless your ready to sever ties. This is an energy of all or nothing, an energy that says if I can’t win I will make sure you don’t win. We all need to stay calm and even and not get caught up in fear and negativity.
This aspect is also one that can indicate natural disasters, and was involved in the Earthquake in Haiti, as well as the eclipse that occurred two days prior to the quake. The square is exact on the 31st, so it influences our entire week.
On Friday we have a full Moon, with the Sun in Aquarius and the Moon in Leo. Full Moons are times of letting go, or finishing up unfinished business, so think about what you hang onto in life you no longer need and release it, since the Moon is in the flamboyant sign of Leo, let go with a flourish!!!
The planets Mars and Venus will be opposing each other all week, this can be fun, it’s the energy of flirting, of playing hard to get, or the enjoyment of having something or someone you want just out of your reach, and you knowing at one point you will get it. So when it comes to love this is not the week to give up

So here we are entering the month of February, a month associated with love. But we start the month off with the second of the three Saturn Pluto squares that have dominated the energy we are dealing with this past few months. Saturn and Pluto are forcing us to look at the realties in our world, these planets do not allow us to live in a fantasy world, at least not for very long. These two planets are asking us to look at our values and our financial situations, both universally and personally. So we may be faced with hard realities over this next week, we may need to make hard choices or choices we have been putting off for a long time. When we work with this energy we will find life starts to flow a little easier, as we fix what is wrong we can attract the new and exciting into our lives.
Cancerian s born between June 23 and June 25, Scorpio’s born between Oct 24 and Oct 26, and Pisces born between March 22 and March 24 all have reason to celebrate, as Jupiter is shining his rays on you in a powerful way, it’s a time to feel good, take chances and just go for it. You may need to watch the waist line as Jupiter is known for sometimes brining to much of a good thing and weight gain.
On February 2nd the Moon is going to join Saturn in his Square to Pluto so it’s a tense day with difficult energy, and may be a day when issues that have not been dealt with come to a head in one way or another.
Venus is half way through her transit of the sign Aquarius, during this time its good to review what you need in a relationship what your perimeters are. This is a time for you to experiment with different people to expand your circle of acquaintances as one of those you least think of in a romantic way could turn out to be your true love!!
Mars is still retrograde in Leo, creating frustration and a feeling we just cannot get ahead. Those born in the mid 1940’s are feeling this energy more than anyone right now so if your from that era, take a lot of deep breaths and use your years of learned wisdom to know this to shall pass.

Dear Mr. Campbell

I wrote to you earlier (allexperts.com) about the confusion with my Asc. I did some more research it seems more likely I was born at 2:10 pm making my a Scorpio rising…anyways I was hoping if you could help me out again.

How do I deal with the grand cross formed my the Moon, Venus, Saturn and Jupiter??? :( I’ve noticed that I have had to deal with simultaneous multiple crises in different parts of my life. So far I’ve managed to put on a brave face deal with the mess and look like life is fine. Now it is taking a toll on my health. Is there anyway to create some non-stressing peaceful situation by trying to focus on a planet’s or sign’s energy or something? I’m desperate. :(

It looks like a lot of work but I hope you will give it a shot anyway. Once a again thanks for your insight :-)

Hi Nisha I cannot do an entire chart reading in this type of forum, but hopefully I can give you a little insight to your chart. First if you break down the elements you have you are very dominate in the water element, five of your ten planets are in Scorpio, or Cancer, this means you lack in other elements, you have two fire, two earth and one air, what this does is make you someone who works on the emotional level, you can be reactive instead of proactive, then you have a predominance of fix signs in your char, they are the planets that form your grand square. What this does is create a situation where you feel literally boxed in by life, you don’t feel in control, with all that strong Scorpio you want more than anything to be in charge or control of your own life, so your challenge is going to be will you grasp onto your own power, or will others lead the way for you. Grand squares hold challenges but they also hold the promise for great success in life. To me your chart shows an insecurity in your own abilities you may allow others to define you instead of you defining who you are, or you allow the opinions and feelings of others to affect how you feel about yourself. I have no doubt you have struggled with this since you were a very young child, and I am sure you will struggle with it most of your life. That does not mean you cannot balance and work through your chart you can you have a strong chart and you are strong willed, using that energy in a positive way can make you a wonderful teacher or advocate for those who cannot help themselves, I cannot imagine you do not dream of making the world a better place, you have frustration and anger that push you forward all that holds you back is you and your feelings of not being capable enough.
You have crisis in your life because those born with strong Scorpio, Pluto energy are here to create changes, you are here to help others learn about themselves and most change comes through crisis. I think the best advice I can give you is to stay adaptable you have a hard time with things just happening or flowing or trusting all will work out well. Learn to trust the universal forces will support you even at your darkest moments.
Right now the transiting Pluto is setting of you natal Sun, so you are going through some major internal changes, life is not always easy right now, Pluto transits will bring out those natal Pluto issues you deal with, you may find your self feeling very tense, try relaxation exercises, meditation and yoga would be terrific for you. It will allow your energy to become more stable and relaxed. You also have your progressed Moon in Cancer so you are going through your astrological New Moon this happens three to four times in a life time. Its always a time of renewal a time to refine who you are and what you want in life, and how you can go about getting it.

Dear Mr Campbell

Once again thanks so much for your insight. Your were sooo right about my feeling insecure about my abilities. Throughout high school and university I’ve been in the top of my class yet I feel like I haven’t learnt enough to be a good teacher. And ironically even through my own toughest of times I am better at helping others through theirs. Strangely I cant seem to work the same magic for myself and hence the stress. I have started to give exercise and meditation a shot but that’s enough about me…You, Mr Campbell, are spookily accurate in your insight :) Hope all is well with you. take care.

We start this week with the Moon, Venus and Jupiter all in the sign of Pisces, and the Sun Conjunction Neptune the ruling planet of Pisces. It just doesn’t get any more romantic, it’s a gift from heaven for Valentines day, so enjoy feeling loved and loving!!
This strong Neptunian influence gives us a week that is filled with optimism and hope, we dream of a better future and believe it will happen, just be aware of the blinders to reality that Neptune can create. We so want things to be perfect and we so believe its possible that we can ignore problems or issues that need attention. So enjoy but try to stay centered and grounded. This type of energy can create unrealistic expectations as well or promises given that were given in good faith but are just not possible to deliver on.
In the political arena, the Sun Neptune conjunction falls right on the Moon in the chart of the United States, the Moon of a nations chart is going to represent the people, so we may see a combination of confusion, as Neptune often clouds our ability to focus on what we really want. It may also leave the door open for many rumors, falsehood and misunderstanding,.
Late Tuesday when the Moon moves into Aries we will see a shift towards looking at things in a more realistic way, so it’s a time to take those dreams of the beginning of the week and really coming up with a plan on how to implement them instead of just wishing for things to happen. This time period of the Moon in Aires may create some difficulties for Aries, and Libra, it’s a tense aspect that strongly affects both signs.
On Thursday the Sun joins, Venus, Jupiter and Neptune in the sign of Pisces as the Moon goes into the sign of Taurus, this is a creative energy that will greatly benefit both earth and water signs. Its also an energy that can indicate over indulging Temptations are not so easy to resist for all of us.

Hi Lelonni,
I took a look at your website, out of curiosity. I get Katherine’s newsletter and I saw your 2012 workshop, and I’m interested in taking it. I have a general question about progressions in a chart. What they are and when would you read a progressed planet as opposed to a transiting planet in aspect to a natal chart (I hope I worded that correctly).
Cathryn Byrnes

Hi Cathryn

Your question is a good one, the progressions are the motion of the planets in your chart based on a year for a day, if you use secondary progressions as I do. This means we take the movement of a planet in a day and equate it to a year in the life. As the planets move around they make contacts with each other that set off the timing of your life. You can look at the progressions as the alarm clock you were born with, we all have one. When we enter this plane we have “things’ to do, the progressions show when these times to deal with things will come. It also shows how you grow the opportunities that you may or may not take, its often the growth of your soul on this planet. The transits are more outer events, progressions often show how you feel, transits often show what you are experiencing. Hopefully that has cleared it up a little for you.

This is an exciting week astrologically. For the first time since 1928 the planet Uranus will move into the sign of Aries. Uranus spends 7 years in a sign so it takes 84 years to move through the zodiac. Uranus is the planet of change, the planet that does not allow the status quo to continue. Uranus is all about things being shook up, both literally and figuratively. Aries is a sign that is all about the now, getting things done, moving forward despite the odds. Aires does not always think of consequences so this planet in this sign says we are in for some interesting times. Those of you who are Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn or have planets in those signs will be the most affected, but all of us need to be ready for a shake up.
Jupiter the planet of expansion is going to join Uranus for a year, Jupiter is all about the big picture, not allowing limitations to stop us, so Jupiter will fan the flames of Uranus and Aries.
All of us need to be ready for anything, we can take a word of advice from the 60’s and learn to go with the flow, don’t stress. These planets are going to create changes where change has to happen. Jupiter and Uranus together give us the courage to do things we may have avoided in the past. They are a pair that tells us to go for it; you can have huge success with these two planets pushing you forward.
For many of us this will be exciting times, times of change. It may be a little scary and stressful for those who like to be in control at all times. Uranus enters Aries on Thursday May 27, the same day we are having a full Moon, so expect some fireworks right up front. The end of this week will be volatile; we may see crazy weather, storms, possible earthquakes and strong winds. We may also see major shake ups on the political front, power grabs, accusations wild promises that cannot be kept.
On a personal level using the energy of the New Moon in Sagittarius and Uranus in Aries can allow you to bring an end to anything that does not help you get where you need to get in life, it give you the courage to speak up for yourself or do what you want to do. It’s a time to break free from what holds you back. For those that are quiet and shy it’s a boon, for those who are already outspoken you may need to measure yourself so you don’t offend people.
Be open to change but be cautious to avoid change just for the sake of having it.
And most of all keep a sense of humor.

Saturday nights Full Moon eclipse bring us into the beginning stages of what many astrologers are calling the cardinal climax. This configuration includes the planets Saturn, Uranus and Pluto, whenever these guys get together they bring change, if we are not flexible and open change can be forced on us, so this is a time to open up to all that needs to change in your life. Its also a time to become aware of just how important each of us is to the whole of humanity. Our group consciousness is what creates our reality, since we have difficult energy in the solar system its difficult for or species to stay centered and calm. This sends out energy such as fear, arrogance, believing only your way is the right way. Focus on what is good in our world can help balance this difficult time.
The energy we are focused on this week is that of Cancer and Capricorn, so we may struggle between what we feel is important in our career VS what is important to our family and home. Its also a week where security can be an issue, it’s a time to figure out what is really important to you.
On Monday and Tuesday Venus and Jupiter are in aspect, this can be a time when we overdue, we want all that makes us feel good, food, money luxuries. This can be fine as long as you use moderation, your temped and its really hard to fight those urges for pleasure.
On Friday and Saturday of next week, Saturn and Neptune will be in aspect. These two planets have little in common, Saturn is all about structure and limits, Neptune is all about no boundaries and expanding horizons, so they always have an uneasy relationship. The positive use of this energy is taking creative ideas and turning them into reality, coming up with new ways to create security and structure in your life. Saturn can take the blindfold of Neptune allowing us to see where we are holding ourselves back, so take advantage. Do you have a project you have been struggling with, now is the time to revisit it and come up with some new ideas.

And Lonni, thank you for sharing your gift with all of us. I hope you know that you are greatly appreciated.

This week literally starts off with a bang. The Moon is going to join Uranus and Jupiter in Aires on Saturday morning. What energy that creates, we may feel overly emotional into Sunday afternoon, we tend to be overly reactive, but we also want excitement, its time to party!! Just be careful that same energy can cause accidents from carelessness.
On Monday Uranus begins its retrograde journey that will bring it back into Pisces for a few month, until March of 2011. For some of us this will feel like a relief, as Uranus has stirred up a lot of trouble during its short stay in Aries, those with planets in the early cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, have had some area of their life seem a little out of control, as Uranus muddies the waters in areas of our lives we ignore. Uranus brings things to a head, so now that he is leaving this part of the solar system for a while we will fall back into the false sense of things will work out, if you don’t work on those problematic areas of you life, when Uranus goes direct again early spring expect those area’s to act up again. This week Venus is going to leave the sign of Leo and enter Virgo, before she does she will make an opposition to the planet Neptune. This is a very romantic contact , we want to be in love with love, but be careful as Neptune can hide what can be problems in the future, so keep your eyes wide open if entering into a new relationship.
The planet Mercury will also be moving from Cancer into Leo on the 9th, as it does so it makes a great trine to both Jupiter and Uranus, talk about brilliant idea’s. You may find your mind running at breakneck speed. You figure out how to solve that problem that has been irking you for ages. Talk, chatter, any sort of communications is stimulating have fun with it.
At the end of the week we again have an eclipse. This time it’s a solar eclipse and occurs at 3:42 PM EDT. This eclipse will be visible in the Pacific Ocean and parts of South America, it’s a powerful energy in the sign of Cancer, so our security needs, and need to feel safe where we live may become an issue or highlighted. It may be a rocky week for the stock market, we may need to look at our personal finances as well as our national security needs in a new way. Solar Eclipse bring things to light they highlight areas that need attention

Hi Robin

I am glad you asked a question, I love answering them. There are many answers to your question and when it comes to any abilities I like to look at an entire chart, but yes we have markers for certain attribute. Two of the outer planets play a large role in psychic abilities. Neptune is the most often recognized as it’s the planet that lifts the veil between the world we walk in and the world of the mystic, Pluto is the planet of the medium, the planet that allows you to live in the world of those who have walked before us, or those who live on a different plane, the entities we channel.
For the personal planets Mercury and Jupiter are often indicators. The Moon is very receptive so in appropriate signs and houses it can indicate abilities. As to houses the water houses, fourth, eighth and twelfth are the ones that you most commonly find in psychics. The aspects I find are the most common are conjunctions between the appropriate planets and the inconjunct, epically if it’s involved in a YOD. The signs are usually Scorpio and Pisces.
I also want to touch on Capricorn and its planet Saturn, it’s very common for this sign to be of a higher spiritual level, and when it is it’s an indication of an understanding of and ability to communication with other worldly forces, as well as the ability to intuit things.
I hope this has helped a little I know it’s a vague answer, but in astrology everything depends on everything else and the art of reading a chart comes with being able to look at all of it and put it together, some charts who on a quick look seem to look like that of a psychic may turn out to be the chart of someone who is no sensitive at all, or someone who has chosen to detach from that ability then you get the chart of someone who has a chart that looks very earthbound yet they are totally in touch with the spiritual side of life. It always comes down to the totally of the chart and how the person chooses to use the energy they were born with.

PS this is also posted on my blog

I was told that I could go to your website and ask a question of you.So, here’s my question.:-)
What aspects and placements in a person’s astrology chart indicate artistic abilities? Or success as an artist?
I’ve always wondered about that, but I can’t seem to find a lot on the subject. I find a little here, a little there, but not a lot. Anyway, thank you for your time.

I am so sorry it has taken this long to get back to you. Without the time of birth I cannot be as specific as I could with it, the time allows an astrologer to look at the houses of a chart, which can give you more information on things like careers, but we still get a lot without the time. In your chart it obvious that you have a restless and curious spirit, so it’s hard for you to settle on one thing, not because of a lack of commitment, but from your curious nature that finds to many things of interest. That makes it hard to focus as once you get into something it branches out to something else.
One of the stronger areas of your chart indicates that you are a rescuer, you take on people, pets, projects and life in general where help is needed where someone or something is struggling, it gives you great satisfaction to help and be useful, you do need to watch that it isn’t taken to an extreme, as that can get you in trouble, especially if someone takes advantage of your generous and kind nature. Your also a people person, so you like to be with people. All of this says to me you need to work in a field that allows you a lot of personal space, where you can come and go as you want, and something that allows you to help, so the reality is your massage therapy is perfect for you. But you may feel a need to take your helping nature to a different level. You would be a great advocate especially for women, you know how to get things done, and in a nice way you’re a powerhouse but you know how to talk to people and get them to go along with your ideas. I also think you are much better off working for yourself as an independent t agent than you are working for someone else. You also have teaching and writing skills, I think you relate well to children.
My sense from looking at your chart is at the moment you are feeling strong urges for change and meaning in your life, you also probably feel inwardly that something is about to happen and it is you are going to have opportunities come to you from some unexpected sources. You have the potential of moving to a different area, as well as meeting new people.

Hope this has helped a little

This week starts with a solar eclipse, so as I suggested last week it’s a good time to look at your emotional needs, or what you need to feel secure. Don’t forget that this eclipse is also a New Moon, so prepare your wish. If your going to use the sing of Cancer you want to focus on family and home. This is a wonderful time to heal any hurts, smooth over any rift, or just enjoy the warmth and comfort only family can provide. Since this New Moon makes a very close sextile to the planet Mars so its time to take action on something you have put of, one of the more positive ways of using this energy is to look at what you do to keep yourself healthy, do you have any habits or patterns you should change or improve if so this is the time to do so.
Monday morning the Moon goes into Leo and makes a nice trine to the planet Uranus, this can mean the unexpected when it comes to love. You may receive a sudden gift, or a sudden declaration of love, so be ready.
The week ends with the Sun starting to set off a YOD configuration with Saturn and Neptune. This can indicate some tension, so if you are a water or earth sign, and you feel off or irritable, take a deep breath and know it will pass.

This is the week Saturn once again enters the sign of Libra and will stay in that sign until Oct 5, 2012. Now Saturn has a bad reputation for being a pain to work with, the reality is Saturn does what it can to create structure and a firm base or background for anything we enter into. We often perceive the delays Saturn causes as road blocks, but often those road blocks give us time to slow down and look at our plans and maybe readjust to make them have a lasting quality. When Saturn enters Libra on Wednesday the 21 the first thing that happens is he makes an opposition to the planet Uranus. These two planets have been opposing each other on and off for the past couple of years, and they represent much of the tension in this county and world wide as they represent the archetype of change vs status quo. People on each side of the argument feel passionately about what they believe, so we may see an upswing in the divisions, but the good news is this is the last of this type of aspect for close to 40 years. Saturn likes the sign of Libra, he wants to bring us balance, so lets all focus on good energy and balance in the world.
Toward the end of the week Jupiter and Pluto are getting ready to make a square aspect, a time of big decisions, big changes, maybe some big financial news.
On Thursday the 22nd the Sun enters Leo, it’s the hot days of summer we are now looking at the Sun shines are brightly as it can, suitable for all you Leo’s.

We start this week with a beautiful Sun Jupiter/Uranus trine, it’s a time of joy and an optimism and oh the heat, these are all planets in fire signs as well as the Sun and Jupiter as fire planets, so don’t expect the heat to go away its with us for a while. The Jupiter Uranus involvement can indicate powerful storms that start and end suddenly. Jupiter was the God that threw the lighting bolt, lets hope he doesn’t throw them our way.
By Monday we once again see the powerful energy that is creating unrest in our world, we have the Full Moon in Leo/Aquarius, adding even more energy and then the planet Mercury oppose the planet Neptune, this is a combination of having sudden urges, or emotional responses that may not be something you want at a later date. So be careful not to overreact emotionally, and put off making an important decision or signing any binding agreements. On Thursday Mercury enters sensible Virgo a much better time for decision making and contract signing
On Thursday Mars enters Libra, normally a calm placement, but not this time around as Mars joins Saturn, these two planets have an affinity with each other, they will work and push to get done what needs to get done, so it’s a hard working energy, but at the same time these planets are opposing Jupiter and Uranus who also have an affinity, but they want to do wild things have fun, do something shocking and outrageous. So one pair of planets have no limits, the other have many limitations, its an explosive combination. It’s a time to avoid conflict, drive carefully and stay calm. A positive use of this energy would be tackling a project that you have been putting off, something that is physical, start a diet or an exercise program you have the energy to back your reaching a goal, just watch out for those impulse.
So even though this week starts out on a fairly positive not as the week progresses the mood gets testy and emotional. We have entered a time of change and creation, it can be difficult energy to handle, just read the newspapers and you will see all around you this energy being played out all over the world. Stay calm, breath deep, and don’t act on impulse and you will be fine.

The beginning of this week is dominated by Mars. Mars is the planet of action, but he is also the planet of war and anger,. As I talked about last week, Mars has triggered the outer planets that are now in the early degree’s of cardinal signs. Mars is the planet that can trigger this energy. The planetary contacts for this week hold the promise of getting a lot of work done, as I talked about last week, Mars and Saturn can get a lot done, they become focused when they work well together. So we can see things that have been blocked in lives may start to move, we start to see results, we may not always be happy with those results but its forward motion.
We all need to give a wide berth to our cardinal sign friend, Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, Mars setting off the outer planets can bring them issues in their lives that make them cranky or a little difficult to deal with. So support them the best you can, and give them love and kindness even when they are not acting like they want it, or they are not acting very loveable. :)
On Tuesday Mars will form a T Square by opposing Jupiter and squaring Saturn. This is a challenging aspect and will indicate some tensions for everyone. Things may get blow out of proportion so don’t believe everything you hear. In general people feel more like they need to challenge each other, so the wise among us will not take a stand right now that is very controversial, wait for a calmer energy to make your stand.
On Thursday you may start to feel better as Mars has moved on so we can once again feel a little calmer.
On Friday Venus starts to grab some of the energy, for those of us who like a little calm and peace in our lives this is great relief, Venus cannot stand conflict so we all feel a little more benevolence. We still have some tense energy that will be with us for a while, but Venus will smooth it over. So Friday is a great day to go out and have some fun. Venus will oppose the planet Uranus, this is a very exciting combination, Venus likes excitement, and Uranus loves to provide it. On the romantic front it can mean that person you have secretly been admiring suddenly notices you, it’s a time to take a chance and tell someone you are attracted to them. You just need to be careful that you don’t jump into a relationship thinking its going to be long term when the reality is your just having fun. Keep your eyes open and your common sense handy. On Saturday Jupiter joins this opposition between Venus and Uranus. On a financial level this is a great aspect for investments, just don’t go overboard a small risky investment can pay off, a large over the top chance may not.

Each object in the universe has a pattern or cycle it follows’, it’s one of the things an astrologer uses to gage the astrological climate at any given point in time. The personal planets as well as the Sun and Moon, move fairly quickly through the sky, the Moon of course is the fastest moving object in our neck of the woods, followed by Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars and Jupiter. Once we get to Saturn the planets take a very long time to move from point A to point B, for example Mercury will travel through all 12 of the zodiac signs in about a year whereas Pluto will take 12-20 years to go through one sign. So the further a planet is from the Sun the long it takes to travel through a sign.
An astrologer looks at each zodiac sign and each planet as an archetype. So when a planet goes into a sign it exhibits a certain energy that energy is used both on a universal and personal level. The inner planets from the Sun to Saturn are called the personal planets. These planets have the archetypal energy that affects us on a day to day level. The Sun is our core, who we are, the Moon is our emotional and security needs, Mercury is our ability to share information and communicate, Venus is our desire to love and share with others, Mars is our energy and ability to act, Jupiter shows where we need to expand our lives, where we need to stretch ourselves and Saturn is learning about boundaries and grounding. So each of these inner or personal planets have an effect on our daily lives, as we get past Saturn into the outer rims of our solar system we have the outer or universal planets, these planets represent our ability to get along with those outside our inner circle, it’s how we deal with forces beyond our control, whether they be from institutions, governments, the media and such. These planets also are more about how the outer world can force us to look at our inner lives. Uranus is all about change and breaking up that which no longer serves us, Neptune is all about taking off the mask that we hide behind to avoid reality and Pluto is all about looking at our shadow. This works in our personal lives but it works much more on a universal level, so the group consciousness is often shaken up by these planets. That group consciences energy then filtrates into our personal lives. So when each of these planets enters a new zodiac sign it’s a time of learning, reevaluation and refocusing on where we are going as a society and as a species.
We are at a time in history where all of the outer planets are making big changes, this started last year and will continue into 2012. The ancients knew of this changing of the guards, it’s what a good amount of the 2012 hoopla is about. Is nothing more than a cycle, and a changing of consciousness on many levels, it’s a positive time. But often to get to the good stuff we need to weed out the negative stuff, or the stuff that no longer serves a purpose and that is always difficult. We as a species tend not to like change, especially change that we have not created. Pluto moving into Capricorn in 2008 was the heralding of this huge move by all the outer planets, Pluto is a planet that will force you to look at what you are doing, if it’s not positive Pluto will force you to change your ways, if you cooperate it’s not so bad if you don’t cooperate Pluto is relentless in forcing us into the changes we need to make. Capricorn is the archetypal energy of big business, government, powers the urge to succeed at any cost. Almost to the day when Pluto moved into this sign we saw our misuse of all these things. When the transit of Pluto through Capricorn is over in 2024 we will look back on the way we use to do things and how much business models and government have changed.
The next outer planet that is making a major move into another sign is Uranus, Uranus is moving from the sign Pisces into the sign of Aries. On May 27th of this year Uranus made its first move into this sign, the planet will stay there until August 15, when it goes back into Pisces through a retrograde, or apparent backwards motion. On December 5, of this year the planet goes direct in motion again and will slowly move back towards Aries where it arrives again on March 12, 2011, where it will stay for the next 7 years. This is a very exciting combination, it will create fireworks and excitement for all, so this is a 7 years of hanging onto your hat, letting go and learning to just enjoy the ride.
Aries is a sign of action, it wants to get things done, it needs to accomplish, it challenges, it’s an innovator, it takes chances, its daring. Aries is the sign of new starts and beginning. Uranus is a planet of change, it loves the unexpected, it’s daring and at times reckless, it’s explosive and dynamic, its innovative and brash, and will not be told how to do things. So you put this planet in this sign and you have the potential for so many changes over the next 7 years that its mind boggling. On an energetic level its pure raw energy, a need to stir things up; a need to win at all cost a need to challenge the existing authority no matter what that authority might be. It’s also the energy of inventions, new ideas, new ways to do things, technology and the future. So we are going to see many new ways of getting things done, some of them can be forced on us, when this energy is used on a less than positive level it can be an energy that wants to force its way on others, so we can expect people to become even more polarized than they already are, everyone thinks they are right, and you can’t tell them any different. So it’s a volatile time. This energy is like the energy you feel right before a strong lighting storm it can make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, but often those severe storms are what break up the static heavy atmosphere, without it we often get stuck in air that is so heavy you can ‘t breath.
On a personal level Uranus will force us to look at our lives, areas of our lives that have not been working for us will change, if we do not embrace that change it can be forced on us, so this is not a time to get stuck. It’s a time to look at new ways of approaching life. It’s a time to start listing to our inner voices to let our spirit soar. This changing energy can help us understand how we are all one, we are all a part of this wonderful universe and each of us through something as simple as a thought makes a ripple in the universal fabric. Uranus is called the “Awakener” in spiritual astrology; this is because he is like the great arch angel Michael, the spiritual warrior. On a personality level we can feel confusion and concern when life seems out of control, but on a spiritual level it’s a call to make the world a better place.
Most of us think of Uranus as the ruler of Aquarius and it is, but in a branch of astrology called Esoteric Astrology Uranus is the ruler of Aries, Aries is the sign of birth, and new starts, so Uranus in Aries signals a time when we need to create a new start for all of us. Each of us needs to be a spiritual warrior that carries the message with us. The message is we need to bridge the gap between the soul and the personality.

Mars had his way with the world last week, and in the process created some hostility, acts of bravery, worked with Uranus and Jupiter to produce some crazy world wide weather conditions, and in general create instability. This week Venus enters the room, she will help out and create some peace and calm, but first she needs to spend some time with those early cardinal planets, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto, these guys have very strong and powerful energy, so even peace loving Venus can get stressed and pushed to her limits. The concerns with Venus in this position are spending patterns as Venus rules finances, these patterns are a concern both on a personal level and on governmental level’s. We may hear news about budgets of all types that are not as controlled as they could be. Each of us needs to ask ourselves is this something I want or something I need really need.
The next Area that Venus has control over is romance and love, when she is together with Mars in the sign of Libra love is in the air. It’s a time when we may feel more like committing, or maybe we are ready to take our relationship to the next level. That special someone may even pop the question. Those of you that were born under the influence of this sign may find this a great time for romance and pleasure.
This months New Moon occurs on Monday August 9, at 11:08 Pm EST. The New Moon in Leo is a great time to focus on goals that can enhance your life. You may focus on feeling more playful, or maybe you finally start that creative project or idea that has been running around in your head for so long. Whatever it is you want make the time to use the energy of the New Moon to help you achieve it.
Next Saturday the planet Uranus will retrograde back into the sign of Pisces for the next few month, that may be a relief for those Aries out their who feel life has been out of control. Use this time to prepare for the reentry in March 2011 when life once again may seem a little off balance Look at where you are now, what areas of your life are creating stress and work on them and make the changes that need to be made.
